I was screwing around and found this old vid of me and my old team playing in Aruba. If you watch it. I played for the sharpshooters. I'm the one with the blonde hair, with the flag in one hand and my gun in the other. I jump over a barrier and run down the last guy and bunker him out at close range. I did this in almost every game but they only showed the one game that I can see. We lost only one single game at that entire tourney and got second place. Since we all got a free trip to Aruba no one was too upset about losing...

Some paintballers in Anchorage made the national news by drivng around shooting drunken Indians with paintballs. They were dumb enough to be videoing the whole thing and got crucified.

Aruba was cool as san be. Brass Eagle paid for the whole thing. They had 3man events all around the world and the winners of the sattelite events got a free trip to Aruba to play the finals. We stomped ass on everyone. Only lost one game in the entire event but it was in the final four and ended second. Quite a let down...for about ten minutes. Then we looked around and realised we were in Aruba. Paintball back then wasn't as big as it is now. They didn't advertise like they do now. No press releases so it could be picked up on a google search. Now there are video games. They are going to be playing on Huntington beach March 28-30.

I had no idea they were even videoing that event. Although I used to get so concentrated, a plane could crash into the parking lot and I would'nt pay any attention to it. Man I loved that game.

There is a dark story to that tourney. The bushwchakers won the event.

OK. Here are the players involved. The captain of the Bushwhackers is Ron Kilbourne. He is the shadiest pballer there ever was. Google him and you will see what I mean.
The event was to be an amateur event. NO PROS ALLOWED! You see the guy "little John"? He was pro for years and one of the best there was at the time of the event. He played for Bob Long's Ironmen for years. He was paid enough to leave Ironmen and go play for Bushwhackers. The rules state: a pro player is considered still to have his pro ranking for at least one calendar year after dropping down. He left Ironmen weeks before this tourney. He was as illegal a player for an amateur event as you can get. Not only was he a Pro but he was likely one of the top 5 in the world at the time. I blew his face off in the prelims.

In the tournament just before this event. Ron was caught "wiping" at a major event. It was HUGE news. There were serious calls for him to be banned for life.(now there is so much cheating it is litterally part of the game). Another team. "The donkey punchers"(not kidding) were the 3 you see with thier pants cut off walking on the beach. They were the other team in the finals. I shot all 3. We found out later they were paid $500 each to throw the game to the bushwhackers. Ron knew how much publicity there was from this event. We won all of our games in seconds as you can see the game we play on the video. Not one went a minute. After the event. ALL of the teams came up to us and shook our hands and told us we were the best team they had ever seen and ALL felt we actually won that event. It was a moral victory but didn't get us on the front page like the damn bushwhackers. We were un sponsored at the time. Winning that event would've brought us a lot of needed attention.

Ahhh well. I ended up getting a divorce and having to retire to raise my 3 kids. Funny thing is. I became good friends with Ron after we locked horns a few times. That is how we found out about the "deal" that won them that tourney. Donkey punchers would've smoked them. Those 3 guys were good. I wonder whatever happened to them? I'll bet they went pro after awhile.

Damn! Looks like a lot of fun... I've been shot by a paint ball gun with no padding. It left a nice bruise...

That does look like fun. I played a few times with some guys from work. I can tell you it's quite an adrenaline rush to have people shooting at you, even though you know it can't really do any damage. One of my days playing was cut very short when I did a run into the "other guy's" territory and was unloaded on by a few guys. One of the paintballs hit me in that place between the shaft and the sack. :shhh: I thought I would lose a testicle it hurt so bad. I had to ice and elevate my junk that night, but in the end everything pulled through fine.
