Shit, that ain't bad at all. A few years ago, my neighbor's friend backed into my LF door with his Del Sol. Left a nice crease right above the side moulding for basically the entire length of the door. Cost him about $1300 to fix.

$2,900 to fix the door. Seriously. ???

Looks like pulling dents, repainting and replacing trim.

Wow...

Really the door has to be replaced?

You know why? Parts cost.

After a fairly bad side hit/scrape of my '95 Fleetwood, I needed 2 passenger's door, a quarter, and all the trim. You can still get all of these parts new from GM...but as the shop showed, it would be around $5-6k just in those parts, and then $2.5k for the labor.

With a car worth about $5k, that wasn't good, but luckily I was able to find a guy locally parting out 2 of the same cars in his yard (completely random, found him on Ebay after searching for a few parts, and bingo), and got every last part needed for less than $500 plus then a new tire & wheel.

Essentially, and thanks to a great shop who was more than happy to use the parts I gave them with the car, we cut $5k out of the total bill, and the car was repaired and happy afterwards.

For your Deville...I assume the same is true in regards to a door shell, trim, etc. The older these cars get and there are still new parts around, things are far from cheap.

Man that ain't no wreck. A wreck would have been the truck driving on top of you and smashing that cushy suspension into the ground. That is just a little bumpin' and grindin' right there.

That sucks.. Living by us (in West Palm Beach), these stupid accidents are just a part of life. And it's NOT the old people, either.

I live in Palm Beach county. I know all too well that what you said is true.

Too bad you don't live around here. My local body shop would would be able to repair the damage a hell of a lot cheaper than that. Those lights in the grille are pretty cool. I see you have a train horn as well. :) Fun shit. Good luck w. the repairs.

It's very difficult driving a huge SUV around here. I feel forced to buy a smaller vehicle next... You'd think the ESV is so big - you can't miss it.. Unfortunately, it's so big you CAN'T MISS IT.

LOL! Right on. I was watching when the power was out in FL on FOX News. They were talking about the driving skills as well as showing the light blowers.

Hey, at least the damage isn't that bad, and you're here to post and let us know what happened. It beats the hospital, or the morgue.

If you were in Tennessee, I know a guy who could likely get that done perfectly for 1k tops. :D

he said he was having a bad day and was fighting with his wife in the car. i pull infront of him to turn right and he starts tailgating me. I turn right and he stays back a good 1/2 mile, then all of a sudden starts hauling ass coming at me again, starts tailgating me again, and i just keep driving. He then goes around me on the left on the wrong side of the road, in oncoming traffic. he then comes a foot from me on the side trying to scare me, then all of a sudden he moves to the right smacking my mirror in, moves back to a foot away, then comes back and just starts grinding my side with his tire. this all happens in about 5 seconds. I grab the phone and call 911, he makes a left and keeps driving, i get his plate and report him. i follow him for a good 5 miles and he finally stops and starts walking to my car, im already freaked out and no way am i putting my window down more than an inch. He walks up to me yelling "the hell are u trying to run me off the road 3 times?!" i said "man u just hit me!" "how the hell am i going to run u off the road being infront of you?" he turns around and a split second later turns back around and starts apologizing, and says to come to his house to write me a check. umm hell no im not going to his house.....i dont know him. I follow him for 5 more miles and i finally stop as the 911 operator is telling me to stop and wait for the police, so i do. they have him 3 tickets: reckless driving, passing in a solid line, and hit and run. i talked to the guy yesterday and he offered his truck to me to get to school and work. hes a nice guy, i guess everyone has their days....

There's not much you can do about this while driving, but once he gets out of his truck, that's where the skills take place. I guess then if you were like me you probably wouldn't get the money to pay for the damage to your vehicle, but he wouldn't get the money to pay for his bodily damage either. :sneaky: If someone were to walk up to my car like that, I would consider it a threat and take immediate action. I'm cautious. I must say that you handled this much better than I would have and in this case, that's a good thing. Just be prepared if someone is to do this in the future, whether your defense is driving, a gun, or ground tactics.
