cover all electrical items with plastic. Simple green 50/50, Agitate trouble parts wit soft brush. Light spray with water. Start up, Let it warm up a tad. not full op temp or anything, Spray WD-40 on all plastic, It will dry off from the warmth of the motor. Thats what I do.

I would do this, but not use the carppy pro-long product:

I agree with everything stated. I'm still not up to speed on the LS2's, but on the LS1 (which is in my C5) and the LS6 you have to be careful not to let water get under the intake manifold. Between the heads and intake there are little slots that channel water under it. If the knock sensors protectors aren't properly sealed, water can get in there and cause all sorts of problems. Only solution is to pull the intake manifold and dry out the 'pockets' that the knock sensors sit in, and reseal.

Also, while I'm posting, type911 I don't have 30 posts yet, so I can't PM you. I got your PM. You can view the rest of my pictures here.

I just bought some stuff this last weekend that works great! Its called Black Magic 2 in 1 engine shine. Its a degreaser and it makes everything look good too. I'm sure it could look better but I think it looks pretty god for as easy as it is. Just spay on and was off. Thats it!. No scrubbing anything. The greasy finger prints on the FRC even came off! The water spot looking things on the strut bar wont come off. May have to get some polishing compound on it.

I use straight Simple Green (not diluted). SG, let sit 5 min, lightly scrub problem areas with more SG, rinse. Repeat, the I use 1 part 30 weight oil mixed with 2 parts mineral spirits and lightly coat the entire compartment. Lightly wipe to remove excess water/oil/mineral spirits bubbles. This makes everything look brand new and shiney. It will smoke a little the first time the engine heats up but don't worry, it won't catch fire. I use this on 4 wheelers and dirt bikes also, it helps keep the mud from sticking.

whatever you do, dont use steam. they say it will corrode all the electrical connectors.

same stuff I use, works great...I use a soft brush to agitate a little...but it does leave a nice shine, and surprisingly doesn't attract dirt.

Yeah the last portion of my drive way is gravel so my car and engine compartment always look kind of dusty. And my car is black : ( Dirts sucks!!! But the black magic stuff is awesome! I couldn't believe it! I haven't touched my engine in months and this thing took almost everything off. I need to hit it again cause I just shot it quick and rinsed it off but the stuff is great!
