View Full Version : FTS gets me a free ride in a new M5 Blackout 03-11-08, 12:46 AM I brought the Caddy out today since it was a nice day out and I went to the car wash in town and I noticed a black M5 two cars behind me in line. So I walk in and pay and then walk out the other side and wait for my car to come out. This guy I'd say in his 30's or 40's comes walking out and comes walking up to me asking if the Cadillac is mine. I say yeah and then we start BS'ing about it. He said he's seen it around town but never got a chance to get up and close and see it. He first saw it he said when him and his wife were eating at the Brick Hotel when they were eating outside and he heard the car go by. So we start yacking some more and it turns out he's the guy with the M5. So both of our cars come out and we go pulling into a parking lot and start checking each others cars out and then he asked if I wanted to take his M5 for a spin. I kinda gave him a look and I was like, "for real?" and he said sure. He tossed me the keys and we hopped in the car. I took it out onto the bypass and was just kinda cruising along when he says, "Stop ***** footing and hit it.....I know you want too" so I downshifted and that bitch took off like a bat out of hell. The next thing I know I'm looking down at the speedo and I'm going 135 mph so I let off. Awesome, awesome car! We get back to the parking lot and I hopped out and was trying not to start humping his car. So I tossed him the keys to the Caddy and we hopped in and when he started it up it does a nice little rumble and he looks over at me and was like, "Noice!" so we head out onto the bypass again and he hit 120 mph in it. But he had a big smirk on his face the whole time. We got back to the parking lot and he got out and was saying how he was impressed with how it got up and went as good as it did for being as big of a car as it is. But of course he had to throw in that it's no M5 and I then had to let him know that I would hope not seeing that your car cost about $90k! But the guy was cool as hell. We got out onto the bypass again but with traffic we couldn't get any red light runs in. I was pulling off and we threw each other the thumbs up and then he took off. So I had a exciting day! Sorry for the long post btw I~LUV~Caddys8792 03-11-08, 12:47 AM Wow, that's a hell of a cool story! Blackout 03-11-08, 12:53 AM Wow, that's a hell of a cool story!I just wish all car guys could be this cool. But unfortunately for every cool guy like him there's about 50 or more douche bags NOT ON MY WATCH 03-11-08, 01:42 AM Right on...very cool. I would love to try out an M5. thats pretty cool, wish there people around here were that nice caddycruiser 03-11-08, 01:53 AM Awesome. Nothing beats the reactions to a well-kept and, especially, tastefully modded Fleetwood;) Even now selling it (I think), it's the one car I continue to get comments on at the gas station, store, etc...shame.
I never did get to see the FTS in person, but still want to after emailing your dad last year about meeting up (since I'm fairly close by). We gotta plan a meet for the local members and meet up in Philly or something. Where in Delaware you at? My family's business has two factories down in Smyrna and sometime in July were going down to Dover Down's for this NASCAR driving experience thing when we get 10 laps in the car and we get to drive, so I'm looking forward to that. I get out of school in May so maybe plan a meet in late May or maybe June or something. Unfortunately I need to do something with the grille on the FTS. It's had a crack in it for a couple of years now and then when I brought it to school for a week someone wacked it again and made it even worse. We have another stock Fleetwood grille so I might have to mod that one up but I'm up in the air if I will fiberglass another Cadillac emblem into the middle 96Fleetwood 03-11-08, 11:42 AM Have to love the attention modded Fleetwoods demand!
I took mine out on Sunday for a quick drive. Had a guy in a XLR pass me and then slow down to give me a thumbs up
I would think about humping a M5 too.. those active seats are amazing. You lucky sob! That's awesome. Blackout 03-11-08, 01:07 PM Have to love the attention modded Fleetwoods demand!

I forgot about those active seats. When I took a turn and it started moving it scared the crap outta me at first I~LUV~Caddys8792 03-11-08, 01:18 PM Man, I wish my car got that sort of attention! caddycruiser 03-11-08, 07:28 PM We gotta plan a meet for the local members and meet up in Philly or something. Yes, well, if I still have mine, that is...but we won't get into that here;)
Regardless, I'm from southern Delaware but spend most of my time on the Mainline (in Wayne, PA, to be exact) while in school during the year, which is closer yet, I believe. caddycruiser 03-11-08, 07:29 PM Man, I wish my car got that sort of attention!
It does. Quiet respect and admiration;) Blackout 03-11-08, 07:57 PM Yes, well, if I still have mine, that is...but we won't get into that here;)

Yeah. I go to school up in kutztown so that's around an hour drive from newtown I~LUV~Caddys8792 03-11-08, 08:12 PM It does. Quiet respect and admiration;)
Well thank you, but sometimes I wish I got the "Oh man! Sweet car!!" sort of attention that modded Fleetwoods get. I suppose if I tinted the windows, put a Remus exhaust on it and put those chrome AMG Monospokes on, I'd get that sort of attention, but then my checkbook would be $5500 smaller. :p 96Fleetwood 03-11-08, 08:35 PM Well thank you, but sometimes I wish I got the "Oh man! Just get the 18 inch staggered monoblocks and H&R lowering springs/Bilstein shocks and you will be set  codewize 03-12-08, 09:41 PM Awesome, anytime we can here about the Brougham, it's a good day. Thanks for sharing.
:) I~LUV~Caddys8792 03-12-08, 09:43 PM What sort of reactions do you LT-1 FWB guys usually get? Do the stock ones recieve as much attention as the modded ones do? 96Fleetwood 03-12-08, 09:48 PM What sort of reactions do you LT-1 FWB guys usually get? Mine was stock for 3 days.. so not sure about that one. The white '96 I had with Vogues and wires drew some nice attention.
In the Black '96, I get thumbs up, people waiting for me in the parking lot, crowds at car shows, picture ops at Hooters, and race challenges... and it is just a Fleetewood :) Cadillacboy 03-13-08, 08:07 PM Great story !
I love LT1 power too
For those who still thinks Fleetwoods as a retired peps car Blackout 03-14-08, 09:17 AM Mine was stock for 3 days.. so not sure about that one. The white '96 I had with Vogues and wires drew some nice attention.

To answer your question I would tend to think that modded ones get more attention then stock one's. I am forever getting compliments and having people stare at the car as I go by. Hell my gf and i stopped by a Quik Check the other day when we were heading over to her friends house a nd I had the window down a crack while the gf went into the store and then this kid gets out of his buddies Honda Prelude and as he was walking in he saw my car and was like, "That is one f**king hot ass car!"
