ACDelco only. Use any other brand and you will be installing ACDelcos 10,000 miles later.

And why are you replacing the plugs at 78,000 miles?

Because the platinum pads come off the ground electrodes's before 100K.

I changed mine at 55K and more than half were missing causing large gaps.

Stay with the ACdelco platinums. Do a search on this site and you will see verification of this recommendation.

ACDelco 41-950, Rockauto $4.92 ea, in an 8 pack. Gap .050". You might consider buying the 8 spark plug connector boots also, same page in Rockauto, under wires/boots. Make sure the coil cassette ground spring is seated correctly with enough extension to insure a good ground.

I've done plugs on only six '01-'03 STS and DTC but have not seen a missing platinum electrode disc yet. All the plugs I pulled were either Denso OEM's or, on later builds, ACDelco Japanese (Denso?) units.

Two of the cars, done for friends, had less than 75,000 miles on the plug sets, and the plug electrodes looked new, with gaps from .046" to .052": completely within normal tolerances. The elusive miss problem was that one of the boots was carbon tracked in each case, shorting the plug in high humidity cold starts. You could see the spark track down the ceramic insulator.

2001 Northstar's take a 41-987. The 41-950 is for early cars like my 1995.
The missing pads on the ground electrode could be limited to the early plugs
