Sup guys.. tomorrow I have an appointment at my local dealership to check out a 2005 STS. It's Silver Smoke..V8 base model.. no 1SG package :(

However.. it has 28,000 miles and the asking price is at $21K which is negotiable of course. I definitely want to get the Cadillac Certified warranty with it if I end up pulling the trigger.

What do you guys think is the most I should pay WITH warranty? I rather have a one with nav and all the goodies but all the ones I see are around 26-30K.

The prices seem inline and I dont think they will negiotiate much... You can always get the base and buy a Nav on ebay for $500 or less and install it and the interior will look much better.. I dont like the look of the non-nav units so upgrading is always an option.

Nav isnt that bad since i has GPS on my PPC but I totally agree that it dresses up the interior., kinda wanted the Mag Ride though.

I shouldn't pay more than $1k for the certified warranty right?

I was told the 1600.00 that I paid was alot for my CCP (Cadillac Certified Protection) but after checking it out with different dealers and service people I've come to believe it was a fair to great price. Apparemtly there is a difference in the CCP vs. the GM extended warranty. As I understand it, the CCP is true bumper to bumper coverage where the GM is not.

Hopefully someone will put me straight if I'm wrong.

Good Luck!

Dealer cost is $1000 for the warranty... Most will not sell it that low but you might get lucky... I paid the $1000 when I got mine.

Check out the dash kit on this STS without the navigation...just another option versus installing the screen. I thought it looked pretty good in the pictures versus the stock black in the non-nav STS.

Allllrighttt... as long as no strange issue pops up it seems like i'm the soon to be owner of an STS!

You guys were right about it already being at bottom line.. best I came out with was $21,495 with the CPO 6yr, 100K . The only thing I regret is not trying to get a mesh grille thrown in! :thepan:

When I go to accept the vehicle on Wednesday, EVERYTHING should be perfect cause of the certification right? I noticed the start button was peeled a little, so would they replace things like that before handing it over?

I just bought a used 05 STS V8 and I got it certified. Unfortunately it does not have to be perfect. From what I was told, if there was any warranty work to be done, it wouldn't be authorized until it was purchased. I just got my car out of service and they had to replace the rear differential and transmission pump as well as replacing the start switch, which was peeling. You could ask them if they will fix the start switch prior to delivery. My experience with that is GM wants a third party to paint the switch first. If that doesn't end up looking right or to the customer's satisfaction you can request to have the switch replaced. That is what I ended up doing. Make sure that they give you the actual certification checklist when you pick the car up as well.

I seriously couldn't believe that they tried to get away with painting it. After I started to clean the inside....the paint just started to come right off on the towel. I took it right back to the dealership and then they said they would replace the switch. Of all the ways to save a buck!

Thanks for the heads up.. do you mind me asking what you paid for your STS?

I'll post pics up of the "Silver Smoke" soon as I get it.. my rims from my Eldorado are gonna fit so that's a plus. Gotta get it tinted and swap out the grille next!

Yeah...i paid $25,500 certified. It has 40k on it and is the V8 1SF package. The dealership put on 18in rims from an 08 that they decided to put aftermarket 20's on.

I have the same color too! :D

That is a lovely car, take good care of it.

I often wonder if sales of the STS would'nt have been a lot better had they put 18" wheels on as standard. What a difference an inch makes. The standard 17's just look so puny.

Thank You!! I baby my cars....so this one will definately be well taken care of. I agree that this car would look sooooo much better is 18's came standard. The 17's just don't do the car justice. Little things like options is how the manufactures make their money. :)

Welllll I'm at work and cant stop thinking about the beauty I have sitting in the parking lot. :bouncy:

Already have a tint appointment for Saturday.. I also plan on putting my 18" chrome rims from the Eldorado on the STS this weekend. Then pic's will come next!

Quick question.. I know the speed limited tires thing has been beaten to death (S,W,H,Z etc) but on mine it has something like 235/50R17. I cant find the limit for R anywhere. I read somewhere that it's 108mph than another saying they were 155mph+ sport tires?? So I dont know what to think.. anyone have these R-Rated tires and have any speed limiter issues?

In my opinion STS Sales are hurting because of the new CTS... There was a nice size difference from the old CTS and STS... The new CTS is bigger and the technology in the CTS is far superior (Entertainment System) so new sales are going towards the CTS...

An interior refresh with a new Entertainment System like the CTS and sure throw in the 18's and the STS would be selling better. All in all I still love my STS.

If you look at the sales figures on the STS you will see it sells between 1500-2200 per month pretty steady. Even before the CTS was redesigned..
