I've had it for a little while now. I dont think I've posted the pics here though. Figured I would share. It was a major pain in the ass to install and I had to end up weling some brackets to hold the tank and compressor and the horns on the front of the vehicle. The horn came from hornblasters.com. I'll Try to get some vids.

That thing sounds :cool2:. I love the background: serene, somewhat overcast morning with the birds chirping in the background and BLAM! Very nice. :D

eta: do you have it triggered off the factory horn button, or an accessory button? If so where'd you mount the button?

Its on a momentary switch that has power to it 24/7. I would have wired it to the horn but I didnt want it going off everytime I locked my doors.

that would have been funny as heck to have it going off when the doors lock. Dang I want to order one of these kits, but I'm just knowing these police overseas here in Japan would give me so much $hit for it.

I would LOVE to get one of these kits but I'm worried about the install. I saw that you had to weld those brackets to hold the horns and I don't know that I have the means to knock that out right now. Has anyone else installed one of these? Difficult?

You don't have to weld them... He chose to. You can put those same 4 horns behind your grill. Or you can remove your spare tire and put everything there.

Ah very good info. So tempting! The kit from Hornblasters has everything you need?

A complete kit from hornblasters will have everything you need except for mounting hardware. You don't have to weld anything to install. I bought a sheet of plate steel from Lowes and installed everything with nuts and bolts with a little loctite for good measure. The horns I used were not from hornblasters, but the air kit and everything I needed to install it took 5 minutes to get over the phone. The guys at hornblasters were a big help to me.

ZaC my only other concern regarding one of these kits is how does the tank get refilled? Do you have to take it to a gas station every so often? How many blasts do you get per fill? Sorry for my noob-like questions I'm very new to the train horn gig. Lol

The chrome compressor looking thing is an air compressor.

It has an air pressure switch on it that when the tank gets down to a certain PSI (air pressure), the compressor automatically comes back on until it reaches full pressure again.

What great news! Does the compressor make a bunch of noise? I guess if it is mounted under the body then it won't matter but I saw some clown on YouTube that had it mounted in the back of his Explorer and he couldn't hear his music. Haha I don't want that to be me.

If it's outside it won't be as bad, but you'll still be able to hear it. Should only have to run for 1 to 2 minutes at the most after a long honk...

Too bad theres no way to (yet) get the onboard compressor for the air-ride to fill the aux tank for these horns.

its about as loud as your onboard factory compressor. I have a leak somewhere that I havent cared to fix so the tank gets emptied every night. Takes a little under 10 minutes if the tank is completely empty to fill it up.

that one looks similar to mine. I ordered mine about 3 years ago, and the site has since added A LOT more train horn kits...

Is your tank 2 gallon or 5? Will the 5 gallon fit where the spare tire is currently? Did you tap your hornblasters into your factory horn? Sorry for playing 20 questions but I'm ready to order mine I just need to make sure I get the right kit.

WHY? I understand the air horn, i have many good memories of scaring people on the side of the road ext...
But, on an Escalade. Not on my top to due list. If it was on a jeep or a truck (not EXT) i could see it.
Maybe im just being a hater?

I think it is a very good idea and would like to do the same
with my 2004 Escalade but the cost I can not justifie .
It would fit in the spot for the spare, as who ever changes
a tire on the road any ways.
I have 20 in tires and a 17 in Spare

Yeah I've been meaning to get me one of these... I wonder if this shit is illegal in the states? I'm going to guess not. I wonder if we can get this up to 150 DBi ... at 150 DBi you will go deaf in 2 1/2 seconds in certain parts of your hearing.

Aren't these things illegal on civilian owned street driven vehicles? If not, they should be.

Some jackass blasted one of those things while I was sitting next to him at a stoplight with my window down, and my right ear was ringing for 30 minutes. Probably the closest I've ever been to "road raging" and jumping out of my car to start a fight.

illegal?

well from 2 cops I've personally asked and let them listen to it....their answer, was no, as long as its not overly used to cause a disruption

but I occasionally enjoy honking it next to someone with there windows down, and watching them jump at a red lights. Watching someone get so mad because someone scared them is hilarious. I'd say 99% of the people jump, and then laugh and ask me what is that, etc etc.

And then theres that select few (you) who get all bent out of shape. Congrats :halo:

I cant tell you how many times my girlfriend has gotten me with it when shes sitting in the truck, and I'm coming out of the store, making me jump like a little bitch in front of everyone. Lighten up

I suppose it all depends on how loud it is, but the one that this prick at the light set off caused my ear on that side to ring for half an hour. Anything that loud can cause permanent hearing loss, and whether it's 1% or 100% loss, it's my damn hearing. A person who knowingly commits an act that can cause physical harm to an unsuspecting person deserves to have their ass beat. Hard.

And yes, they are illegal in Florida (http://law.onecle.com/florida/motor-vehicles/316.271.html) and most other states on anything but an Emergency vehicle.

Actually possession is not illegal, but in most states there is a law referencing decibels that these could easily exceed. In my state I believe its 132dB. and my horns are just over that if I have a full tank @ 200PSI; which I rarely do.

I am actually looking for the horn that sounds like the police cars have, but maybe not as loud. It has 2 quick stucatto hits (attention sounding but not abnoxious). Most OEM automobile horns nowadays are worthless - they need more umph.
The ones that were popular in the 70s and 80s that play songs are abnoxious though
