Just from looking at my sig you see im only 16, and I attend a Tech High School in South Florida. They allow you to choose a tech program for (free), they vary from Networking,Photography,MarineMech,Welding,Nursing. ...etc. Well I finally decided that im going to go to the Automotive Tech class. Itll start in Aug. for my 11th grade year and continue until 12th graduation. This school is great because they offer the same class as the adult classes exept for us students its all free. A couple months ago we had a Dodge Viper donated to us and they learn stuff off of that......New Acuras w/damage and Caprice Classics these are just some of the cars that the school has which they do all sorts of work on......and another they have (for wes) is a 1989-93 Q45.

Sorry for the long post...just a little excited I guess.

Here is the link to the program:

Congrats, wish I would have had that kind of choice. But then again, I would have chosen Networking :)

Actually, it was between Networking and Automotive.....parents wanted me to do networking but its the hardest tech course the school offers and the teacher just happens to be Broward County Teacher of the year.....he is real nice....but the work load in that class is huge. And I dont plan on pursuing networking in the future.....im more of a Business man then a computer man.

I ended up settling for automotive because I figure I can do that plus college English and History so I can get a couple college credits while im at it.

Good deal. Are academic and technical classes in the same school? And if so, how is your scheduling? It's funny, I was caught between those same two choices when picking my shop. VERY happy with my choice. (esp. with an "incident" I was supposedly involved in at school....)

Yea, they are in the same school. My 9th grade year and this year was all "core" classes so now I only have 9 credits till high school completion. Ill actually be done first semester in 11th. Id have automotive 2 outa 4 classes so id have 1st:Auto 2nd:Auto 3rd:Math 4th:english.

Though I have a choice for either AP or Dual, I might choose AP to stay in the class, but to get college credit I need to take an exam. While in Dual I attend the local CC and I dont have to take a exam, but I have to try and schedule everything around this.

Take a look at this article on my school: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/news/custom/childrensfund/sfl-bhs18mcfatterfeb20,0,6796649.story?coll=sfla-childrensfund-headlines

That's cool! My schedule is weird, 6 days of full day tech, then 6 days of regular academic classes. Heh, start working on that Q, you'll wish it was a 68 Cad, where you dont have to disassemble the car back to the taillights to change the sparkplugs..... http://cadillacforums.com/forums/images/smilies/ignore.gif

yea, I bet, that is why they give a full range of cars....semi-exotic:Viper, reg:Caprice, some acura TL's and the Q. They do alot, including working on their own cars.

Sounds like fun! Good luck! However, there probably are many computers involved because of the technology involved in cars nowadays.
