Hi All, Iam looking to purchase a CTS and wanted to know if the Sport Suspension was worth the extra dollars. Thanks. :)

By all means! The sports suspensions is a must! It's a Hellva package. With out it it's just another ride.

Yes, the big thing for me was that the '04 base car now has lighter steering.
The '04 with the PDX(sport) package has firmer steering (like the '03s).

The base '04 just feels softer and the Sport package makes a big improvement.
I almost feel like the 3.6L engine was too much for the slower steering of the base car.
The Sport car is that the one that recently won the Road And Track comparo.
To tell you the truth I don't think there is a huge difference in the supsension settings of the 2 cars.

Realistically, wouldn't you all agree that the primary handling difference results from the larger wheels and low profile tires?
The only thing I'd want the Stabilitrak for is to help out in snow and ice conditions. The load leveling is something I'd rarely, if ever, need.

I know that the brakes are upgraded a bit, too with the sport package, but I am very pleased with the braking so far.

At high speeds you will wish you had it. Much more competent feeling.

-StabiliTrak 2.0
-sport tuned suspension
-improved brakes
-load leveling
-speed sensitive steering

Oooops! I forgot about the steering upgrade. Oh well! I'm still pretty happy with the base and 3.6 motor.

Not really. I'd say the majority improvement in the handling is the shocks, stabilitrak, and steering. I don't think the 225/55 tires grip much less than the 225/50 tires - they are both Goodyear RS-As.

Yes, I drove both and decided I wanted the sport suspension. It may take some looking to find a base or lux edition with it, but it's worth it.

Thanks for all the responses. It sounds like something I should make sure
I have on a new CTS.

Another plus for the sport package is the top speed, 149mph verses 121 for the standard CTS. Not that we drive that fast.:tisk:

can we install fg2 suspension in the cts? or does that only apply to ctsv only?

Everything I have read/seen is "yes".

I think it makes all the difference in the world.
