Well, been on there about 6 months now and never have any oil in it....did it as in the FAQ...it has since got a slight oil coloration to it...but thats about it....one of two things, I have absolutely no blow by...or the 'open' system doesn't work and I have to complete the circuit....any one else running an open system and actually catch oil?? I've got the flow on the separator facing the correct direction as well...so, I'm at a loss...any ideas?

you got it hooked up wrong, the line you have pluged at the lifter valley needs to go to the inlet of the filter, and the exit needs to go to the intake, the way u have it hooked up you are building crank case pressure. try it like this,

lifter valley-----filter------intake manifold

well, after reading this

http://www.cadillacfaq.com/faq/answers/oilcatch/index.html

is why mines hooked up the way it is........so instead of the valve cover breather I should hook it back into the intake???

if you want it to catch the oil vapor, than hook it up the first way. if you want it to breath fresh air into the crankcase use the second way. I have found the first way is much more benificial than the second way in helping with ring seal.

I hope you fix it right. Crack case must be vented. if it is hooked up wrong and if is is one was valve you are probably getting some or lot of crank case pressure. Not a good thing for sure. main reason for catch can is to reduce detonation imo. oil is pretty hot if you think about it. Plus it makes one hell of a mess.

it is good to have oil catch can. Just buy one that works. jegs and summit racing have lots to choose from.

Is your car leaking any oil from seals? if not than just fix it asap.

HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

OK i know why it aint catchin anything...Have the the exact issue with my setup, well use to have...

Ok you need two micro filters...One for the valve cover and the other for the valley suction...

Merely install the filter between the valley / valve cover and manifold and let them run their course. You will see the air pass through and the oil remain behind. You current setup is only ventin the air out thats why you have very little oil residue.

Trust me on this its better in the long run to have a negative pressure in the valley...

I believe I was the one of the first to post this mod back in 2001 for people to do:
http://benelliwang.badassride.com/Engine/index.html#PCV

I've done the catch can with on ls1 or ls6 pcv set up, with the white filter on or off, N/A and boosted over the past 7 years. Let's just say that if you can pass smog, use a breather just like your set up, it is the best way to prevent oil from entering the intake manifold.

Thats it...Thats what i was sayin...

OK I have one that says leave it as is (no emissions in florida)...and yet a few more that say run the line back to the intake......Now i'm confused...maybe I'll hook the line back up and see, what if any damage could be done leaving as is...??
