View Full Version : Wierd "warbling" noise on decel or coast RunningOnEMT 03-03-08, 10:39 AM New funky sound, trying to figure out whats going on.
Just started on friday. When i push in the clutch to shift, or decel in gear there's this wierd chirping/warbling noise coming from behind the dash, most likely in the enigne bay.
Its wierd, it goes away when i shift back into gear and accellerate or even give it a little gas to maintain speed.
Any ideas? RunningOnEMT 03-03-08, 12:19 PM great..now it does it on accel too... its keyed to engine RPM... lord i hope this is just a gasket leak The Tony Show 03-03-08, 03:48 PM I'm having a hard time imagining what a "warble" sounds like, so I can't be much help. Any chance of recording it or comparing it to a similar noise? RunningOnEMT 03-03-08, 03:56 PM almost like a chirping bird but muted... its in time with engine RPM... i checked all my belts and pulleys doesnt look like anything is burnt or slipping The Tony Show 03-03-08, 04:00 PM With the engine running, spray brake cleaner on the crank pulley and AC pulley and see if the noise stops. I've seen dirty belts or pulleys cause weird squeaky noises, usually after an oil change due to a small spill or if some dope cleaned the engine and used dressing. if it was only on clutch in/decel before but now it's constant, maybe a throwout bearing? RunningOnEMT 03-03-08, 04:16 PM thats what i'm worried about ... luckily i have a warranty maybe i'll bring it to lindsay tomorrow RunningOnEMT 03-03-08, 04:16 PM With the engine running, spray brake cleaner on the crank pulley and AC pulley and see if the noise stops. i'll try that too There was a TSB on this way back when. I think it had to do with the heater core? Check the Faq, or doa search for "chirp", because that's how the TSB characterized the noise.
-Chris The Tony Show 03-04-08, 10:27 AM There was one on the water pump inlet housing that classified it as a "hoot" noise, but I think that was only under acceleration between certain RPM. Venomous-V 03-04-08, 11:38 AM i had bird chirp with aftermarket header gasket blown. I think there was another one in addition to the water pump, that involved the heater.
i had bird chirp with aftermarket header gasket blown.
I have tire chrip under throttle application, on occasion :lildevil:
-Chris RunningOnEMT 03-05-08, 09:50 AM car's at lindsay now getting looked at. we'll see what ewill comes up with. Florian 03-05-08, 10:38 AM either throwout bearing or water pump.
Capt. Obvious. RunningOnEMT 03-05-08, 10:45 AM hmmm.... COULD be... i'm betting on header gasket being thrown into the mix |
