: "inexpensive" Track Wheel

Lindsay Cadillac Parts

$285.00 A WHEEL. the wheel is made by Team Dynamics which according to my potential distributor and Team dynamics own website are pretty reputable in the field of lightweight competition wheels. this wheel weighs 21 lbs and will be custom drilled for the 6x115 pattern of the V. it is available in black and silver. it will be 18x9. the only slight downside is this wheel is custom drilled in England and shipped via container ship once a month, so if we "miss the ship" an order could potentialy take 2 months. these are being sold as "track wheels" so any minor blemishes due to the wheel coming across the atlantic will not be looked at as a defect. once again these will be custom drilled at my request, these wheels in this configuration don't currently exsist on any other website!!

I am getting 1 wheel drilled and air frieghted to me (from England) to mount on a local V to make sure everything is good. the offset looks like it will be 38mm which with the wheel being 1/2 inch wider (18x9 instead of 18x8.5) should work great. again the wheel is being marketed as a track wheel and will not have a center cap. I should have the test wheel sometime during the 2nd week of March. after we confirm the wheel fits (Team Dynamics has basicaly guarenteed there will be no fitment problems on V's with stock brakes). I will place a multiple piece order that will come via ship. realisticly I should have product to sell by late April (famous last words!!)

Welcome Flyerguy! Buy a set from Luke and have him sign you up for the Summit Pointe track day. Come out and meet some fellow V owners and get to learn how to drive "fo' real". Plus, you will fill one of the final 14 spots and make it exclusively a "V" event. That would be a great thing. Ohio to Virginia is a quick trip.

PS- Luke from Lindsay is well respected around here and often has great deals for us forum members. You won't go wrong dealing with him.

Luke, thanks for the info on the wheels.

V-Love, thanks for the reminder on the event--I saw a thread elsewhere on it already. Sounds absolutely awesome! Unfortunately with a new baby (just turned 4 months) working full-time, doing coursework for my dissertation, and my honey-do list for the house means fun trips like this are extremely limited. That and I definitely would not fit in the car wearing a helmet--there's only 1/2 inch at most between my head and the ceiling panel. Unless I stuck my head out the sunroof...

track wheel fits fine. the one they sent me is silver and a flat black will be the only way they are available. dont mind the tire in the pictures, I run our Vogue department as well as the V department and this is the only tire I had access to in a hurry! $290.00 per wheel (they snuck the price to me up a few $$) plus whatever shipping. the wheel weighs 21.5 lbs VS 25.8 lbs for stock. THIS BEING SOLD AS A TRACK WHEEL!! of course anyone is welcome to buy it but there is not nor will there be a center cap that fits these wheels. also these are being drilled in England and shipped via container ship so any minor blems that they get between there and here will not constitue a defect!! I will inspect every wheel once they arrive here and let the customer know of any minor knicks or scratches before they leave here. the wheels are hub-centric and fit very solidly. I hope to place an order before I leave work tomorrow so give me a call if you are interested. I believe the first order will be for 6-7 sets (all the blanks they currently have made) i will know how long the order will take shortly(hope to have that info before the weekend to)
by the way, the tire I used was a 245-45-18 (stock size) and the wheels are a 38 offset

the wheels look promising especially the flat black...^like what he said would we have options in offset? let us know more about details in shipping times and deposit amount?

Lindsay Cadillac Parts
03-21-08, 12:04 PM
The wheels are only available +38 offset and 18X9. the V, according to a guide my distributer has, can take a 35-42 offset (42 being what the stock wheel is). the lower the number the further away from the car the wheel moves, so a 38 is going to be further out than a 42. with that said the wheel is 1/2 wider than stock. with the stock size tire on it I did not see any difference in clearance than the stock wheel and tire configs. I do not have access to any different size tires to see how they fit, if there are any local guys with wider tires willing to let me play with your car for a day give me a call. I have ordered the 6 sets available so that they will make the shipment from England due to leave on March 28th. they had 2 silver and 4 flat black to drill on the first order. I guess what I am trying to say in a long winded fashion is that if a wider tire fits your car on a stock wheel it will fit your car on this wheel. If I can get an assist from a local guy with wide tires I will confirm that.

Anyone want to give me a warm fuzzy that my 245/40-18 Hoosiers are going to fit sans rubbing? I am done a bit of searching and haven't found much regarding 9" wheels in the front. In FAQ is says 9" are the widest for front fitment, but that's all.

Well, I found out the hard way that NHMS is a non-V friendly track. Actually, it's still fun but I needed a lot more rubber in back and there was a lot of off camber throttle modulation. Ugh.

THese wheels do not come with nor is there really an easy way to use any kind of cap (especially on the rear). shipping would be approximately $75.00 for the set.

V-Sam has them on his car at VIR. They loooked great. He did indicate that they require some new lugnuts, that are a bit smaller than the OEM capped lugz.

Thanks! Any info on the tire sizes and brand/model in those pics? The rears look good, fronts look like they might be out a bit too far if you're driving the car in anger.

Yes. Did you look back in this thread? :suspense:

Does everyone just spray paint the uncapped centers with black krylon?

Anyone with those redwall tires mounted? They are 255s. I don't think they will rub but want to make sure.

spraying the exposed bit is a good idea, may need to do it every so often but paint is cheap. we have test fit 255's here with no issues.

Are they silver or do you have a choice of black lugs? Pics by chance or a link?

I checked Hoosier's website and it looks like the section width is 10.2" for these tires. A 265 street tires seems to run about .5" wider. Has anyone gotten 265/40 tires to work on these wheels?

Thanks!
Mike

Pics from today. So far no rubbing on fenders. No clearance issues to ca's or anything else that I can see.

Again, tires are Hoosier GAC 245/40 18. The section width is the equivilent to about a 275mm street tire.

Yes, I am going to buy black racing lugs...
