I have been driving my 2008 CTS (with NAV) for about a month now. I have noticed from time to time when I turn my radio on the LCD screen will be "black screen" for about 10 to 15 seconds before I can see any information. I don,'t recall this happening for the first few weeks of owning the car.
I also experienced (just one time) my sound system sounding very distorted and muffled.Turning the engine off and restarting the car seem to fix that problem.

Anyone else experiencing problem?

There has been a thread concerning this problem earlier; the nav system and radio, as well as the climate control system being inoperative for a few seconds upon start up. I think there is a Service Bulletin on this (faulty plug into the system). Check with your dealer.

I haven't seen this issue, but the first thing I thought of was the auto-dimming mode of the display (versus always bright or always dark modes). If you started in the garage, it might think it's night and dim the screen until you've driven in the daylight for a bit. I dunno -- just a thought.

nq2u, how cold? I've noticed some delay before the screen shows up, just figured the lcd needs to warm up a bit.
mine sits outside overnite and it's been 20F or lower for much of the last several weeks.

on my sts the screen will sometimes be blank on inital startup but the radio is still operative...it lasts a few seconds...
