One thing I feel the CTS is missing is a HUD. The current STS has one and I had one in my old Pontiac Grand Prix. It seems gimmicky but you really start to get used to it and appreciate not having to take your eyes off the road to see your speed or what radio station you are on or disk track. Anyway, anyone know of a good aftermarket HUD manufacturer?

I've always wondered why the HUD didn't make it on to more GM models.

It's funny, I have HUD on my 'Vette and use it all the time. But I haven't missed it on the CTS. I do have the digital speed readout as my default on the bottom of the speedo, though. Seems to make it quicker to ascertain my speed. I think it's probably more to hold costs down and because the CTS is more of touring sedan than a sports car, marketing to the contrary. I wouldn't be surprised to find HUD standard on the V model, though. It ought to be, anyway.

If it's to keep costs down, why have various Pontiac models featured it over the years? :) The Grand Prix was a cheaper car than the CTS.

This is true, but as you probably know, many 'Vette owners have added HUD to their non-HUD 'Vettes and report generally good results. You might get a small amount of image ghosting with a standard windshield, but it's still doable.

Yes i agree with you on the Corvette owners that have added the HUD but the Vett has a high HUD option percentage some where around 70-80% so i would suspect that 100% of the windshields are for HUD.

Definitely not true. There are actually 3 different part numbers for C6 front windshields. 1) No HUD, no OnStar; 2) No HUD, OnStar; 3) HUD, OnStar.

Well i was talking about the C5 and when i was at the plant they were not using a non HUD windshield. In 2001 when my C5 went down the line there was only one windshield. I watched. With the C6 you talking a different story with the addition of ON STAR that will bring up the cost of the windshield.
