Whatever you opinion on Bob Lutz, I'm glad somebody in the auto world has the guts to tell the truth about the global warming lie!

It's Bob Lutz, what did you guys expect him to say? He is the head of GM, a company famous for SUVs and muscle cars.

To illustrate my point, here is the exact opposite being said by a top employee of another automaker:

Inventor of the Prius Says We're at the End of the Oil Age, Car Culture

"This is what the end of the age of oil means," says Reinert, 60, who plans
the vehicles Toyota will make in a quarter century as national manager for
advanced technology at the U.S. sales unit in Torrance, California. "The car-based culture, the business-as- usual of building cars and trucks, is going to change dramatically."

Reinert says automakers are endangering themselves by basing sales and profits on the big, fast cars that many U.S. customers say they want in 2008. In five years, as oil shortages and global warming intensify, car companies may be out of step with drivers' demands for fuel-efficient vehicles. Even worse, degrading stretches of the planet like Fort McMurray will only delay--not prevent--the time when the world must function in a post-peak- petroleum economy. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/marketsmag/mm_0308_story1.html

I am not saying that either are right, but you need to remember that these guys are not climatologists. They sell cars. That each opinion reflects well upon the kind of cars they are trying to market comes as absolutely no surprise.

It's one man's opinion. There's lots of men (and women) out there with lots of opinions. However you'll pardon me if I don't listen too much to Bob Lutz on the planet's climate, any more than I would listen to John Marburger about running a major car company.

He even recently said this himself, after that one line of what he said became a news flash across the internet. Here was his blog reply:

Yeah I know his stance, but stance wasn't the point. It's who I reference for certain opinions on various matters.

The Sun is the SINGLE biggest factor regarding climate change. PERIOD. It is a fact. Right now the Sun has recently gone into a cooling trend. Guess what? The earth has seen the single largest DROP in global climate in like 60?(can't remember exact figure) years. How is this true? Humans and cars are ruining the Earth? How can the Earth be COOLING? My God? What is goining on? Is global warming a fact? Yes. Does the Earth warm and cool? Yes. Has it done this for millenia? Yes. Might carbon footprints and other such crapola be a knee jerk reaction from liberal idiots?

When I was in school. I remember quite clearly being told by my socialist teacher that an ice age was coming because we were leaving trash on the side of the roads. In 30 years the garbage dumps would all be full. Indians cried on TV. The drinking water was going to go bad. All the trees in America would be gone from logging. The Earth would be so over populated that we couldn't feed everyone by 2000. Killer bees were coming to get us. The metric system was the way to go. ALL of these things were once thought to be true and openly taught to children!

Jimmy Carter was the neatest thing since sliced bread. Everyone would be in flying cars by 2000. If it was publicly known that you were a child molester? Someone would kill you. None of it mattered because the Russians were going to wipe us all out anyway.

Maybe people should pay attention to the folly of past stupidity and realise jumping to conclusions can be destructive. The younger generations haven't yet lived long enough to see with thier own eyes how idiotic these things. Which are told to us, can be. The ones old enough to know better and still fill thier heads with idiocy should be ashamed of themselves. They are nothing more than propagandists with an agenda. Like little kids throwing a fit because the world isn't the way they like it. Gotta poison every simple mind they can get thier hands on. Before they are old enough to think for themselves so they can be miserable with them. Its called Socialism. Beware of it. It is coming to a child near you.

Did you figure that out all on your own?
My god, the sun is responsible for heating the earth. Alert the press!

Yep.

How is this true? Humans and cars are ruining the Earth? How can the Earth be COOLING? My God? What is goining on? Is global warming a fact? Yes. Does the Earth warm and cool? Yes. Has it done this for millenia? Yes.

No one on either side ignores that the earth goes through phases in climate. The concern is if we have a measurable effect upon it that may prove to be harmful.

If the planet's ecology (and therefore humanity) can survive a 10% change in climate, and the earth is going to change the climate by 8% naturally, we need to be sure that what we are doing is not going to change the climate any more than 2%.

Right now there are no firm answers whether or not we are affecting the climate in any meaningful way, but many of the things proposed by the global warming theorists would have a positive effect on other aspects of our environment, so it definately would not hurt to continue some of these advancements while we wait for the scientific data and conclusions on anthropogenic global warming to come in.

Might carbon footprints and other such crapola be a knee jerk reaction from liberal idiots?

Yeah, the whole carbon credits thing is pretty lame and easily misunderstood.

Sounds like an argument against religion. :halo:

Man has a measureable affect on earth. God gave us the ability to adapt our environment. Animals adapt to the environment. I have no doubt in my mind you could find an arguement against religion in any discussion.

My point was about all of the things we were told by the "experts" before. We would be better off reacting calmly. Yet it seemes hysteria rules the mindset of the agenda driven.

You may want to alert the press. They and the rest of the liberal agenda driven idiots don't seem to understand this fact.

Warning: Somewhere in this post is an arguement against religion. Also somewhere in here is a code for finding the lost city of Atlantis.

Back during my 10 years an an Oceanographic Research Vessel Captain we carried scientists from many disciplines in the environmental, oceanographic, and meteorology fields. Every scientist and team was financially supported by funding from the National Science Foundation, trusts, and university endowments.

There is fierce competition for that money, and the results and journalistic acceptance of scientific endeavor are critical in the decisions of the bureaucrats who dole the dollars.

A common thread among the scientists was their firm adherence to the tenet

"Publish or perish".

There's a lot of pseudo-scientific garbage published to keep someone employed. More than you want to know.

Another basic tenant of scientists is, don't break your fellow scientist's rice bowl. It's not good form to expose his theory as bushwa no matter how flawed his reasoning. He developed his own schtick that he lives off. He might come after yours. This climate thing has become so outrageous that the real climatologists can't stand it anymore and are coming out of the woodwork to declare that those other clowns are alone in their beliefs.

I've been told the ONLY way to get funding in any way is to link whatever you are doing to "global warming" study of whatever for whatever. How to get funding 101. Make up looming disaster which can't be proven or disproven and can't have any real affect till after you retire anyway. You got to hand it to them. It is kinda brilliant. Never mind it is ruining fuel mileage for diesels and burdening the American consumer. The libs don't want anyone driving anything other than a bike anyway. The whole scam is pretty damn sly over all.
