Wow, I'm glad nobody here listens to and really bad music. STS03 you come close, but that's only because I cannot stand Green Day.

1. Foreigner
2. Van Halen
3. Def Leppard
4. Night Ranger
5. Styx (let the ridiculing insue)
6. .38 Special
7. Poison
8. Molly Hatchet (yes, I know I'm white trash)
9. Hootie and the Blowfish
10. Gin Blossoms

Honorable mentions (aka I like some of their songs): Early Bon Jovi, Early Elton John, Asia, ZZ Top, Ratt, AC/DC (not in top 10 beacuse everyone likes them), Magical Seahorses of Ireland (www.myspace.com/magicalseahorsesofireland, its what me and my friends do for fun. One of my friends is really good with a keyboard, if you go and listen to some songs.), Depeche Mode, Rush and basically anthing else that is 70's-80's rock or maybe some early 90's stuff. If I can't understand what is being said, I don't want to hear it.

I can't possibly make a list... none really stand out more then others, well I seem to like most everything from Nickelback, but I just like so much different music, all types and artists.

Destroyer

KISS (if you couldn't tell by my name)
Motley Crue
Van Halen (Roth first but I like the Hagar songs too)
White Zombie

Iron Maiden
Nickelback
AC/DC
Disturbed

There are many many more but these bands dominate most of the CD's I listen to.

Most anything before Viet Nam, Pot, Cocaine, Crack, and Woodstock.

Little Anthony & the Imperials
The Ventures
The Beach Boys
Frankie Vallie & The 4-Seasons
and the fifties oldies

Also loved Disco, still have 100s of 12" 45 disco spins.

Today, I listen to "Smooth Jazz" ~ I had 3 friends who chose the wrong path and died before age 26. Drugs/booze. This caused 2 parents to die, one from hanging themself, the other at his own hands with a gun.
I hate anything, any group that tries to bring "glamour" to drug use.

A female friend, smart, good grades, educated, got into the Drug Scene.
Though she could handle it. Wound up quitting (or got thrown out of a respected university, went to Atlantic City - became a prostitute to make $$$ for her $500 @ day habit. Found dead in a field.

Nope, don't like the druggie scene.

I don't know how I could choose favorites with all the different kinds of music I listen to, plus I go through phases, depending on how my week is going, what mood I'm in, etc.

It would take too much time to stack these thinking about the order, but right now I listen to a lot of:

The Beatles
The Eagles (even have an original near-mint copy of the Hotel California album)
Billy Joel
Nickleback
The beech Boys
The Platters
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Pink Floyd
...Falco
Peter Frampton
Rod Stewart
The Byrds
Radiohead

And yes, not off of them are technically bands. Sue me :p

I didn't care for any of the other avatars. Simple as that.

Pink Floyd was good, but after all these years I do not enjoy listening to their music as much as the other bands I posted.

Is Tool like the Zeppelin/Pink Floyd of the new millenium? Somebody told me that's how they sound.

That's not how I would characterize their sound.

You ought to give them a listen - you can go to tons of digital music sites and listen to samples of their songs. Listen to all their albums. Even Amazon.com lets you listen to snippets of music before you buy. Check it out.

But...I feel that to really experience any band's music properly, you've got to listen to the whole album. And if you listen to *all* their albums, you really get to understand and appreciate them on a whole other level.

With Tool especially so, because they construct their instrument sounds, riffs, beats, effects, harmonizing, dissonance, lyrics, songs, and album experience so intricately and purposefully.

OK, you could argue the purposefulness about some of the lyrics, as some of it is likely as stream of consciousness or nonsensical as any other band's lyrics, but the majority of the lyrics are not your typical disposable lowest-common denominator crap.

They didnt give a damn about the audience and had no energy. It was like they were putting on an amateur garage band gig, playing nonsense instead of what the crowd wanted to hear. I actually fell asleep twice during the show.

WHAT? What was the date of the show? I can't believe that for one second.

I'm guess you were upset they didn't play Crash Into Me or Ants Marching? (Or at least the crowd was?)

#1 on my "most overrated" list. The Beatles and Blues Traveler also rank quite high.
