Several weeks ago I started looking for a new car. I think all the CTS commercials during football season brainwashed me. I looked at MB C300, BMW 3 series, and of coarse the CTS. I had my mind made up, it was going to be Red, maybe silver, but probably red. And it had to be AWD. I spent countless hours looking and checking out every dealer within a hundred mile radius.
I have had bad experiences ordering cars so, I wanted something from stock. Believe it or not, none of the dealers of the three brands had anything close to what I wanted. Especially in Red and AWD.
I drive past the local Cadillac dealer every day on my to and from work. The CTS's are kept right in the front row, easy for me to see. Most were Black or White Diamond with an occasional Red that always seemed totally loaded and out of my budget range. Then one day I drive past and something a little different has shown up and really catches my eye. It's Radiant Bronze. That evening I stopped to check it out. It was equipped just as I would have ordered it except it wasn't Red and it wasn't AWD. It had the performance package with the 18" all season tires, cashmere cocoa leather package, sepele wood trim, sunroof, and limited slip differential. The window sticker was $39685, right on target.
I told the sales guy, " to bad it's not Red or AWD " as I left the dealership. Everyday as I went by the dealership, I became more attracted to this car. After about a week, as I approached the dealership, I caught myself thinking, I wonder if "my" car is still there. When I got to work I called the salesman and said even though it is not what I am looking for let me know what a 39 month lease would run. He called me back 20 minutes later with numbers that seemed pretty good. I checked the lease numbers out on edmunds ( on company time of coarse) and they were better then just good. They were very good.
I now own a 2008 Radiant Bronze, RWD, 263HP CTS. The car is awesome and I could'nt be happier. This was meant to be. My wife and I are driving from NE Ohio to Key west this Friday for vacation. Did I mention I love this Car. sorry this was so long!

I originally wanted Black Cherry, but the dealer found the equipment I wanted in Radiant Bronze. I have the same car as you except no wood (I like the carbon fiber look) and ebony interior. Congrats on your new car.

Congrats on the car. I orginally wanted Blue Chip or Black Raven but ended up getting the Light Platinum. I couldn't be happier. The car looks good in any color in comes in...except Mary Kay pink IMO.

Awesome story, congrats! I went through exactly what you did; I spent a week on the phone with two dealers, then 3 hours at the dealer on a Saturday combing through the database to find a blue or red AWD with the options I desired. Everytime we found one, the salesman would call the other dealer, and miraculously the cars had always "just been sold". I finally figured out that no dealers were interested in swapping.

So on a rainy Sunday a week ago, I went to Cadillac.com and did a dealer locate within 100 miles of my house. I went to every dealer's website and slowly went through the new CTS's inventiories. I FINALLY found one that fit about 60 miles away (one that I think might have been one we called about with the local dealer). If this car didn't work numbers wise, or had been sold, I truly was ready to put it on the shelf for a while. But I called the dealer, it was still in stock, and here we are a week later with the CTS safely in my garage! You're right, funny how it all works out.

Congrats on the new car. Funny I just drove from South Jersey to Key West, got here about 2 hours ago. I also have the 263hp w/RWD & loaded. The car was great all the way down. Top fuel mileage was 27 mpg.

I'll be here for the next 2 weeks, I'll keep an eye out for a Radiant Bronze CTS. :cool2: :welcome:

Congrats on getting just what you wanted. Of course, it took you awhile to finally realize what it was you had really been wanting all along.

first, congrat on the new car although it isnt what you originally wanted

second, after i purchased the CTS, I find out that edmunds' number is way up than it supposes to. I think it is because it is taking the average or whatever it says.

third, enjoy the car

We are stopping off in St Augustine for a couple days. We'll watch for your gold mist CTS. I'll gladly take 27 MPG I'll bet it is alot warmer in key west then it was in south jersey....CJ
