I bought an aftermarket cd player and need the wire harness. my stereo is a non bose hu, if that makes a difference. CadillacSTS2003 02-24-08, 07:42 PM try looking down no more than 3 posts... rnunez76 02-24-08, 10:03 PM I saw some posts about wire harness but they were for a DTS which comes with the Bose stereo. My car has the base CD player. will the same wire harness fit both? I think it is GMOS-6. CadillacSTS2003 02-24-08, 10:27 PM doesnt matter its for all amplified 32 pin cadillacs and DTS and Deville both fit that bill rnunez76 02-27-08, 10:54 AM So what price does the wire harness usually run? Where can I find one online? I found a wire harness for $160 on ebay but I also called a few audio installation shops in town and was told that they would charge me $140 installed. something doesn't sound right. rnunez76 03-04-08, 10:01 AM bump rnunez76 03-04-08, 11:09 AM I was going to get the stereo installed at a local shop and they told me I was going to have to rewire the whole system to get my stereo to work. I want to do the work myself now. Can anyone give me clear instructions on how to go about doing the job? Also, where can I get a wire harness for this car? This seems like it is going to be a lot more work than I imagined.....all for the ability to play mp3s and my ipod....sheesh. 00dtson22s 03-04-08, 02:44 PM but the GMOS-06, get a metra 99-2005 kit... and prepare to have problems... if you can deal with the stereo cutting off intermittently then do it. i did, and have. i'm not happy. but for the amount of money i have in it i'm not going back to stock. rnunez76 03-04-08, 07:41 PM Well that's not good. is there a way to fix the power issue or is it just something I will have to put up with? pearlwhite 03-05-08, 06:03 PM Go to autotoys.com look for UNIVERSAL STEERING WHEEL CONTROL BY PAC SWIX (PAC ADAPTER rnunez76 03-13-08, 10:40 AM Will this adapter fix my power problem? I really could care less if the steering wheel controls work, i just want to stop the sound from cutting off whenever the car is having a hissy fit. Aside from rewiring all the speakers how do i stop the sound from cutting off. I hate this design. I hold Cadillac in high regards, but this sucks!!! GimmeTheGold 03-18-08, 03:51 PM the only way to avoid the cut off issue is to not use the gmos-06. But you will have to bypass the amp and rewire system. Probably wont be able to use factory components. You will lose the factory door chime that tells you you left your door open or lights on rnunez76 03-19-08, 11:34 AM Yeah i figured that out. I think I decided what I am going to do....eventually. I think im just going to put some Infinity Kappa components in the front door and Infinity coaxials in the rear door. I am trying to find a decent amp also. I will just have to put up with this irritating problem until I have the money/time to redo everything. Oh well....I wanted a Cadillac. rnunez76 03-20-08, 05:29 PM I have another question for you peeps. Why can't I use the same speaker wires from the factory amplifier on the new speakers and amp? If I know the wiring layout, can't I just replace the amp and speakers and keep the factory wires? soulman07 03-21-08, 07:20 PM Might as well pay them to do it if you want it done right. You have to re-run wiring from the factory amp in the trunk to the HU..If it's anything like mine was. You might as well pay someone to do it the right way. Factory wiring for non-bose is garbage anyways. Well worth the replacement in my opinion. rnunez76 03-22-08, 10:44 PM im doing it myself. I've seen the type of work radio shops do on cars. I rather do it myself and know it is done right. Plus I have more time than money. Im gonna rewire all the speakers, I was just trying to find an alternative. gutierrezcaddy 08-01-08, 04:04 PM I ACTUALLY JUST GOT DONE REWIRING MY CAR YESTERDAY IM USING A JL 300/4 amp to power my infinity perfects 6 1/2 components (upgraded from 5/14 to 6 1/2) up front and diamond audio 5 1/4 in back..... It took about 7 total hours of modification drilling but well worh it!!!! It pounds...... What i did was ran 14 gauge wire to all doors all through rubber factory hoses, to the cargo area of car, flush mounted tweets to plastis where side mirror wiring hide, took two rca converters and tapped into factory subwoofer wiring, installed amp ( thats another story) but anyway getting my sound from rca's, disconnected the factory tweets so the only thing running off amp is the center dash speaker wich has also ben replaced by infinity 3 1/5 spaker.... But really sounds nice it was well worth my time...... | |
