If it's not too much trouble, could someone be kind enough to share their GM supplier discount with me? I plan on getting one soon (my first Cadillac, I hope).
And if you know of any dealers (around MD, VA, DC) that will be willing to work with the GMS Discount, please let me know, and I'll go through them.
THANKS!

I am going to order a CTS when the 2009's are available. What does a supplier discount entitle you to?

I don't know if they do supplier discounts but call Len Stoler Cadillac in Westminster. ASk for Scott Doyle. HE is my sales rep and my car is due in a week or two. They gave me the best price and didn't jerk me around. I talked to all the other dealers in MD/VA/DC but they were the ones I went with.

Hi, Ranton.

I'm going to be an '09er later this year but I'm curious how your '08 was built (options/packages/accesories, etc.) and if you're willing to share the OTD pricing information from Len Stoler (including Maryland taxes, title, and registration--especially with the raise in our sales tax to 6%...grrrrr!).

By the way, I checked with Fitzgerald (Annapolis) and Miller Brothers (Ellicott City), and they both accept the GM Supplier Discount.

Thanks!

Ranton- So you had to order yours for a better deal? What was the price breakdown of your CTS (If you don't mine sharing this info with us)?

MReiland - Thanks for everything!

RQFinMD - I'll definitely check out Fitzgerald (Annapolis) and Miller Brothers (Ellicott City) to see what they have in stock. Thanks for the info!

apcpa2000 - The GMS code allows you to get a discount on the CTS without having to haggle on a price with the dealers. The only thing is, it's on a higher end vehicle. Not all Dealerships accept the GMS codes. (I just learned about it recently). This forum is really helpful in learning new stuff.

My car isn't in yet but should be in a week or two so I don't have an exact OTD price yet but the deal is at invoice (including the advertising) for a fully loaded crystal red. If I can get in beofre the incentives change I will be at $2500.00 under invoice with all incentives. Will let you know in a week or two.

Nam,

Scott Doyle misplaced your phone number at Len Stoler Cadillac. Wants you to call him back. My car is due in late this week or next. Fully loaded crystal red. Good luck! They have been really great to deal with.

Len Stoler does take supplier discounts. Asked them when I was there on Monday.

By the way, do you negotiate beginning with the GM Supplier Discount discounted price or is your price the amount after applying this discount?

Hopefully my question isn't confusing, but I ask this because I've heard about people paying close to the invoice price, and if I'm not mistaken, that's always lower (especially if you pay below invoice) than the GM Supplier Discount price that you can figure out at this web site:

http://www.gmbuypower.com/index.jsp?&partnerId=510023&userType=GMSUPPLR (Build Your Own)

The only place I know to view the invoice price is Edmunds.com:

http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/cadillac/cts/100905508/options.html?action=1&x=64&y=16

The price you get on the GM website is what you pay with the supplier discount, not including tax/license. You can't negotiate on top of the discount. That's the beauty of the discount. You don't haggle and don't pay dealer fees. So it's pretty much take it or leave it. Unless you want to play hardball with the dealer and negotiate.

The best advice I've heard is to negotiate your price before telling the salesman you have a supplier code. Know the supplier price on the vehicle you want before going in so you'll know where you are in the process. I wasn't able to get close to the supplier price in my negotiation so I had to lay the code on him. I think the percentage of buyers who were able to negotiate below the supplier price are pretty rare up to this point. I know there are a few but it's no where near the norm. Dealers around me are starting at $1000 under MSRP and can get to $2000 under but won't approach the $4000 under MSRP I got with the supplier code. Of course YMMV. Good Luck!

I got $500 off in addition to supplier pricing. The dealer gave me the $500 "dealer cash" without even asking. Gold Coast in NJ.

The $500.00 dealer cash was marketing support from GM. That expired 3/3/08, along with the luxury conquest incentive of $1000.00. I was able to take advantage of both of those before they expired along with the pull ahead program to turn in my GM leased vehicle early and get $1000.00 for financing through GM. That was about the same as a supplier discount since I was only paying $250.00 over invoice to begin with. Total was $3800.00+ under MSRP! I was pretty happy with that deal. Sometimes not all available incentives are available if you use the supplier discount. It just depends what GM has out there for that month's programs. The incentives change every month.

Thanks, guys. I'm gonna be one smart shopper when it's time to take the plunge! :-)

By the way, Consumer Reports offers a car buying service...anybody use that? (This question might need to go to a new thread.)

Thanks again!

I have used the Consumer Reports service. It is pretty much like Edmunds except you have to pay for the Consumer Reports. I would stick to Edmunds or Kelly Bluebook. RFQIN MD, if you want to contact me I will be glad to tell you what I know of dealers in Md and my experience with them. Try and send me a private message with your email.

OK, thanks. I have to make more posts before I'm able to send a PM. But it would definitely be interesting to hear about your experiences with MD dealers.

I've gone to ripoffreport.com and looked at the car dealership section but, man, is there a lot of overwrought drama, exaggeration, and probably a fair share of untruths there!

Thanks also for the word on Consumer Reports. I'm sure it's a good thing but if there's a free service with Edmunds, why not use them, right? :-)

I'm still looking for a GM Supplier Discount code if anyone has one available. I'm in Sacramento, California and as I have posted on previous strings have not purchased because local dealers won't even come off MSRP. I fell in love with the new CTS but am just about to give up and go to other manufacturers for my new car.

I currently drive an Acura and am very happy with the dealer and the manufacturer.

Thanks!!

voodoodr - the car is worth MSRP. If you can afford it - get it. Do not settle for less. People have bought boxes of crap at MSRP because the product was hot or trendy.

The CTS is a machine that in total experience vastly exceeds the sum of its parts and its price.

When you say not all dealers accept GMS codes, I take this to mean they don't allways want to sell to people getting supplier or employee discount. If they are short on allocation on a popular car like the CTS, they will decline to sell it to you. But if a car is easily available and orderable, I'm under the impression any dealer would love to sell you one at employee/supplier pricing

Thanks to Matt for helping us out! Here's my experience with the GMS, about half of the dealers in No./So.Cal will accept the GMS. Most will sell you with what they have on the lot, but a few dealers disclosed that they will have to make money by charging you a little more on the interest/lease rate. Out of the ones that accept GMS, one dealer in Roseville will do GMS only if you order one with $1,000 cash deposit.

Few other points when I did my CTS shopping; Edmunds invoice price does not include advertising/marketing fee which is roughly around 2%. Once you factor that in, GMS is lower than true invoice price. Also, if leasing, GMAC has this automatic add on $595 acquisition fee to the total cap cost which does not even show up on the initial numbers that they ran, but it automatically adds to the monthly payment. This is true will just about all the dealers that I've worked with.

My dealer said he would gladly take a GMSD, he said it wouldn't help him much on profit this year, but it would increase his allocation for next year. To bad some dealers do not think ahead like this one. Woodworth Cadillac in Andover, MA.

The dealer I bought my 04 CTS from refused to take it, his loss, he lost a valued customer. Olsen Cadillac in Woburn, MA. I think he is a supporting dealer on this site.

Tip of the hat to my dealer Woodworth Cadillac of Andover, MA. I went to the dealership today to fill out the paperwork so I could pickup the car on Monday. On top of the GM Supplier Discount they gave me, they also found another $1000.00 in Customer Loyalty Cash. Which was great, it will cover the tire and wheel insurance I purchased ($319.00 for 5 years) and the 3M invisible film protect with money left over to go to McDonald's.:bouncy:

If anyone could help with a GMS code, I would really appreciate it. My lease expires on the 21st of this month and I would really love to get into another Cadillac. I currently have a loaded '05 CTS with a great lease rate and would love to continue with the '08. I had the GM Employee pricing on the '05, but after my grandmother passed away, I believe I am no longer eligible.

The pricing I am getting on the '08, with the same MSRP as the one I had in '05, is approximately $350 per month more than what I am currently paying. I would really love to get this car again, but I can't afford to pay that much more.

Thanks a lot.

<EDIT>: I am in Grand Rapids, MI

I am also going to be a brand new Cadillac owner. I am looking into buying the '08 CTS very shortly and would also appreciate the GM Supplier Discount code to help me save some cash. Hang in there...someone will contact you eventually.

By the way, to all: A dealership has offered $500 over invoice for an '09 when they come out with pricing and may be ordered. Do you think--based on prior pricing history for MY rollouts and what you know about GM Supplier pricing--that they will be similar ($500 over invoice vs. the price after the GM Supplier discount)?

Thanks.

GMS is actually below invoice... Remember though, the invoice price on Edmunds.com does not include marketing fee of roughly 2%. GMS is well below the dealer's invoice based on my experience.

Well I can say this.. if you talk to the right people you can still VERY easily get & use GMS employee codes :D Of course, they as well as the buyer should know that those codes can only be used sporadically at different dealerships as to not raise any flags. And of course.. this is purely for educational reading purposes :)

As far as company codes go on the supplier site, I only assume my scenario above is the "worked perfectly" clause within your post. It does work.. I got down to the high 42k range with GMS employee from a MSRP $50,700 08 CTS right off the bat. I put another couple bucks down and my final walk out price was $41,180.00. DI, AWD, Fully loaded, no other options available to purchase.

I just received word from our friendly forum insider at the plant, that my 09 Raven has shipped. My dealer expects it by the 14th of July or so. Would anyone happen to want to help out a new caddy owner with a GMS code? I'm not sure if they even work here in Canada, but I hope they do because I'm pretty sure that my dealer isn't gonna wanna move much off of MSRP on their very first 09 sale. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Good question. I want to know also.

I left National Steel Corp in 2000, but had purchased 1 truck and leased 2 more with my GMS discount. At that time, you had to show proof of employment at the dealer to receive your discount. Also, only employees and their spouses could use the discount.

Wouldn't you think there would be regulations in place for who is allowed to use the codes? Anyone know what happens if you get a code, then show at the dealer only to find out - "Nope, sorry. You can't use this. How did you get this code?"

BTW - Some dealers will give a GM Loyalty discount. They should offer it, but you might have to ask for it.

Since this was my 3rd GM in a year, so they offered me $200 over invoice, straight out, no gimmicks.

Just curious...
