What is the purpose of the digital clock?
It doesn't appear on the NAV screen

You lost me, ddawson - can you clarify? I know there is an analog clock in the center of the console - I must have missed the digital clock...maybe I'm blinded by all the other electronic wizardry in the car.

You can go into the CONFIG mode and set the digital clock, but after you set the time it doesn't appear anywhere except in the CONFIG mode setup.

Heh...never noticed that. Maybe the DIC software was developed before they settled on an analog clock...?

I'm thinking that it's married to the NAV system.

Maybe you've discovered the gateway to a time machine built into the 08 CTS!

I'll go have some more coffee now... :bouncy:

I figured the Nav system used it occasionally. For example when it tells you what time it predicts you'll arrive at your destination

Is the flux capacitor an extra cost option?

I'm thinking the same. The digital clock is married to the NAV system, that's how it figures your time to a set destination.

As far as the analog clock that sits on the center dash....

Is that electronically configured? In other words, does it adjust itself
for daylight savings time? Does it adjust itself to absolute correct time
via radio signals?

Your GPS always knows the exact time to the nanosecond (when it can see at least 4 satellites). That's how it knows where you are.

I doubt that the nav relies on a clock you set by hand to tell you when you're going to arrive at your destination. Maybe it compares the two and knows if you like to set your clock fast?

No it does not.

Is there a digital clock config option in those w/o the NAV? There's room next the EXT temp read-out.:bulb:

If there is no digital clock on the non NAV models, and only on the NAV models leads me to believe that the digital clock is incorporated with the navigation system. Common sense. Thanks for letting the forum know that the non NAV model does not have the digital clock.

The analog clock has to be manually adjusted, even for DST.
