With traction control off, I noticed that the left rear tire is the one that "burns rubber". Is this normal? Cars that I've owned in the past had the right rear tire as the one with traction unless it had a posi rear...

Depends on what is wrong. I currently have Navigation issues (will not program consistently), Traction control/Stabilitrak errors (Service Engine Soon as a result) and what seems to be a sweating master cylinder. Car has 1500 miles, don't think I will wait for an oil change.
