I am hearing a intermittent Bubbling noise in the dashboard upon acceleration. This 1998 seville sts has recently been timeserted and new OEM head gaskets and bolts replaced within 700miles ago. Symptoms are no overheating just bubbling in dash, could this be air pockets in the cooling system? is there a way to bleed the system other than through the pressurized coolant cap? Any help or oppinions would be greatly appreciated.

I personally pull a vacuum on the cooling system to remove all the air from it.
It sound like air trapped in the heater core

Do a search for purge line and check it. It's job it to purge the system of air so you don't have to.

Re: 1995 STS Cooling problems?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The purge line is the 3/8" line into the side of the surge tank near the top. It should spit coolant at idle and flow should increase with RPM. If you could not blow into it, that may well be your problem. Locate the obstruction and clear it. It may be where it connects to the water pump housing aka crossover manifold.

Crown Vic, Take a look at the pic...the surge tank ('02 STS) is on the right and the purge line is the smaller hose which comes from the side of the tank, across the air intake pipe, and connects to the w/p-thermostat housing.

Click on the image and scroll in. (Butt plug in there, too: intake resonator removed.)

Ah, ok.

Thanks.
