I had a check run on my electrical system because I needed a jump start earlyer that evening. The vultage reading was 13.2 and the tech told me that it should read at least 14. or a little higher. He could not tell me what was causing the vultage reading to be lower than recomended. Any insight greatly appreciated.

Mine has a new alternator and a good battery and mine stays at around 13.5, with my lights on and my subs up loud it may dip to 13.2 then again sometimes it goes up to 14.0.

on start up with my freshly rebuilt alternator (by my hands) it charges at 14.3, once it gets warm it drops and stays at 13.8 with the radio and heat on, 13.6 with the headlights high beams, rear defrost, heat and radio on, basiacally full load

i have 2000 dhs and my voltages reading 14.0 to 14.8 ?so that mean is high ?

i had my mechanic explain it to me. The alternator on my car is brand new (2nd one) i check my volts gauge and it said 13.5 he checked the alt and it was cranking out 14.8 give or take some. He said the reason being is that where the volts sensor is determines the volts. say if it was after all the wiring to the car, of course it will be lower due to the other devices using the power.
