Hey guys newbie here, I have a 00 deville base model 74k mi, after alot of reading on these forums ive decided to see what you guys think my tranny probelm is...ok so here it goes the sucker shifts smooth p-r-n-1-2-3 no problem but the bastard wont shift into 4th gear! now ive read on these forums that it might be the solinoid that is bad or broken..so this is what my deville is doing like i said its shifts perfect p-r-n-1-2-3 but when its time for it to shift to 4th it wont shift, if i let off of it you can barley feel it shift into 4th gear but as soon as i give it some gas it will throw the gear back to 3rd.

so from what i read in another thread that the friction clutches or the over drive friction clutch is worn thus needing to rebuild the tranny or getting a new tranny..

im looking into getting a new tranny will any other trannys fit my deville from a different year and model or same model but different year..i see there all the same 4t80e but some plugs are different and the gear ratios are different as well from what ive been reading...any help or insite you guys can give me i would really appreciate thanks :thumbsup:

Pull some codes...

Yeah, pull the DTC's. Might be nothing more than a shift solenoid. Much cheaper and easier than a new trans.

there are no codes....:hmm

i hooked up an obd 2 reader and no codes...how would i pull up the codes and have them displayed on the dash...i know on later cadillacs that ive had you can hold the off and the warmer buttons to pull codes but on this 00 deville how would i pull the codes i dont have a clue how its done on this model. i want to see what pops up on the display if i can get someone to give me some instructions

ok guys well i pulled some codes

imp 0429 current

rim co660 curent

also i have a question when i was in diagnostic mode and the codes were poping up there was a bunch of history codes which kinda scares me now because there was alot of them in the history but i only found 2 current ones... im sure one of those is a check coolant level code because that comes up on my dash as soon as i turn on the car but no check engine light on or anything....so if anyone has a list of codes they can post for me that would be great or just look them up for me please thanks

CHECKED THE CODES NONE OF THEM ARE TRANNY CODES :confused:
