Ok, I've decided to sell it...sadly.

1991 Fleetwood Sixty Special
Cottilion White/Red
All options excluding cold weather package...it has the astroroof and bose.
It has under 19,000 original miles and still rides on the factory michelins that are in excellent shape as it has been kept in heated carpeted storage.
I doubt their are too many in this kind of shape.

What is everbody's ideas as to what I should ask for it????

wow 19,000 miles. nice car. you shouldn't go any lower than 6k being that it's in that condition.

Car has been driven an average of 1,117 miles a year, is uber rare in the combo of moonroof and Sixty Special 22 way Italian leather seating, appears to be mint, and you guys are talking $6,000? That's a D/P on a new Corolla?
I think it's worth much more than that. Where would one find one that nice, if a person was looking for that car? She's mint and RARE.

Here are a few Stats on your car:

1,253 - 1991 Fleetwood Sixty Special(s) were made.

213 were White (of which 134 were Monotone) Means no silver along the lower body sides. 79 were Duo-Tone, with the lower silver accent panel.

Of the total (213) in white, 40 had the Garnet (red) interior.

Notice I said no lower than 6k.
A damn shame kbb says $3,195 for excellent condition.
Throw it out there for 10 and see what you get.
beautiful ride.

It's a great looking car and those who like cadillacs know that these are hard to come by i wouldn't sell it if that was my car. But since you are selling it since it is in good condition and 19,000k on it i would not go less than $6500 but the state that your in might also have a little to do with the pricing. I say that because i live in Florida.

But good luck i don't think you will have trouble selling it.

Its worth more only to a select few buyers and finding that buyer isn't easy. If it was a more sought after vechicle like a Vette, Camaro, Mustang and such it would command a lot more money in that shape with that mileage.

Yeah, unfortunately there isn't to big a market for these. If he held on to it for another 10 years, maybe. Its just like the first Seville's. Eventually people will recognize the 60 Specials as being way ahead of their time.

it's a shame you cant sell it for more because it is in excellent condition and also very reliable.
they were really ahead of their time.

This is true & I agree. There is however another differance. Look in any give year how many Camaros & Mustangs are traded at auctions and between car collectors. When one of these Sixty Specials comes along, it's anything BUT routine!! In addition, most were sold new to older people who were NOT car buffs and used them as "just a car" and they wore out in 5 to 7 years and were disgarded as not worthy any lonnger .... so so so.... to find a mint example is something special. The person who stops to look at it IS A BUYER and the masses are not the correct buyer.

PS/

To my mind, as an owner of one (I'm sure 'ya all know that many times over, ( I apologize ) the only REAL "special" thing of these is the fact that beginning in 1938 when the 1st Sixty Special appeared, the model always sat at the tip top of the sedan / coupe models as the star on top of the Cadillac Christmas tree. The Sixty Special was THE best Cadillac, one could own, all thru the thirties, forties, fifties, sixties, seventies and into the eighties. Challenged by the original Seville, most former Sixty Special owners chided the Seville as a "Luxury Nova" (Recall) ? It was too small, for a CADILLAC they said....Still the Sixty continued, finally ending with the 1993, 55 years at the top. THAT is (to me) what makes the marque so special.
I don't think in our lifetimes, (well yours, i'm pretty old, now-a-days), one model nameplate will own the top spot on the Cadillac chain for a continous 55 years, ever again. Look today STS DTS CTS V-Class .... Think any will still be in use when you are age 61 ??

I love the SS, but I love your garage even more :-)

Sandy

Not to burst the bubble, but that was not my garage! I rented the unit with the open door.
It belonged to the smartest & one of the richest people I have known. On a big piece of land that he bought for cheap, he built 2 - three family homes. (3 Floors). From these 2 homes, he got 6 rents, monthly. Then, he built 17 garages in the back, but set waaaay back and away from the 2 houses. The Garages were always 100% rented, and there was a waiting list, too !

The apartments in the houses each brought in about $ 1700 a month = Ten Thousand two hundred a month. (They were drop-dead georgious, inside, totally modern and elegant.) Then the garages. 15 earned $ 200. a month (includes mine), 1 earned $400 @ month as it was a 2-car unit and 1 earned $225.00 a month. Equals a garage total of $ 3,600. @ month. Grand Total = $13,825 @ month, or $ 165,880 @ year income. He retired.

I love my Sixty Special to death. My wife says that I almost worship that car, and that it's no longer a car, but a religious object.

I love that car, and I feel it is a better car than a Caddy with a northstar. Here is the problem: It is just an old car. It is not a 76 Eldo convert; It is a 17 year old car. Add some $$ for low miles, and that is it. Potential buyers with $10k (and good credit) would likely buy (and partially finance a 2001 or newer Caddy. Heck, you could buy a nice CTS still in warranty for $16k. If that car was really a $10k car, it would have already sold--especially with the amount of traffic on this forum.

High gas prices today are not very kind to good old V8 selling prices.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news!!

I do love that car.

Very well put. You are right, to 99.99 percent of people it is just a 17 year old car. Sandy, you are the only person on the planet that falls into that 00.01 percentage mark.

It is a nice car.
A nice Cadillac at that.
With it in that condition in another 8 years the value is going to start going up when it reaches classic status.
To some people like you said its just another 17 year old car in good condition but to the owner it's worth a lot more, called it's sentimentel value.
I wouldn't sell it either if I couldn't get what I wanted for it, what I feel it's worth, not what KBB says.
The way it's looking with the high price of gas, having a classic V8 Cadillac, its' going to be a collectors item, especially if gasoline is phased out in favor of an alternative way to power vehicles, like electric or hydrogen.
Personally I'd hold onto it, keep it garaged and put an air sealed vacuum bubble cover on it.

Update:

I love the car.

I'm not desperate.

I know it isn't for everyone...some think its just an old car...others are in awe when they see it.

I would like the garage space as I'm getting married and my wife might like to have a spot...heck I don't even have a spot right now...its filled with the cars I call "garage ornaments".

Old Car Pricing Guide says that a number 1 is worth $17,000, a number 2 is worth $11,900. I would rate mine a 1.5 as it does have two or three rock chips that have been retouched. I will not sell it for less than $10k...it will remain a garage ornament until that day comes.

You will not find one nicer(other than Sandy's)!

thats phenominal for a V8, shows the shape that the engine is in.
Im hoping when I take my trip to phoenix next month that I can avg over 27 mpg.
That is better than a lot of newer V8's and it's probably more reliable than a lot of newer cars.

Thanks for the compliment. Truth be told, I would love to have your car. I'd pay you your price. I think it's fair. Problem is, I have 6 cars + our 23 Y.O. son lives with us & he has a car, so that make 7 cars. My garage rental fees are killing me. I am currently paying $ 635.00 a month in storage fees. I have no place to keep your car, and cannot afford even $1.00 more a month. Now, to those who say it's "Just an old Caddy" ~ here's what you tell them (but it will fall on deaf ears anyhow, but just in case they have a tiny bit of hearing left....)

1) Last Caddy with a FACTORY INSTALLED Vinyl Roof
2) Last Caddy with Chrome Bumpers
3) Last Caddy with Illuminating Opera Lights
4) Last Caddy to offer white leather interior
5) Last Caddy to offer an Interior from Italy

It closed out an era of an excellent design (1989-1993), that still looks terrific.
I see so so so many 1989-1993 on the road & looking perfect.
Everytime I see a 1994-1996 it's trashed. I fail to understand that !
If you sell it - you WILL miss it.

I would like to find a 1993 Coupe deVille in Light Beige, with NO moonroof & Lt. Beige leather to re-create a 1993 Comemmorative Edition, IN the condition of your car......Hey, I can dream, right ????

Sandy

What's an SS Coupe ?? ?? ??

If it's the one I was referring to it's a Comemmorative Edition, but only 1 was made, a prototype, of sorts.
It was panned. Comemmorative Edition not Comemmorative Coupe.
I used to have a Mary Kay Pink 1988 Sedan deVille, that was a fun car, but as a guy, one had to have a hard outter shell (like turtle) 'cause the comments were frequently less than nice.

How come little girls can wear BLUE and it's fine - but a little boy in Pink ???????? Weird society we live in.

They werent the last Caddys with vinyl roofs and chrome bumpers. I like my 1994 Deville better then the older ones and I never noticed more 1991-1993s looking perfect compared to trashed looking newer ones. Then again there arent a lot around here anymore they all rusted out :( I cant remember when the last time was I saw a 1991-1993. There arent many 1994-1996s left either but there still seem to be a lot of 1997s around. ANyway I say keep the sixty special dont sell it.

What was the story with the comemerative edition...what would have made up that package?
