1st I'm looking at a 2000 sts but the engine light is on how do you pull up the codes from the computer and 2nd 97 sts i'm looking at runs hot what could be the problem???

To be fair to the 2000 STS Submariner, the light could be something as simple as a loose gas cap. Before turning him off and away, he should find out what the code is.
