Hey everyone, I had a few questions about a 97 deville I am working on. I have been having a cooling issue with the car, I had to add about 2 gallons of coolant tonite, the car had gone into limp mode and told me it had low coolant, so after I added I noticed a jingling/scraping noise coming from the water pump area, I was wondering if maybee the impeller broke off or something, I also noticed that the cooling fans were running slowly then all of a sudden they kicked in at full speed, which seemed premature because the thermostat didnt even open yet, with the A/C off. So I said, well let me check the codes, so I did. I had a c1243, BPMV pump motor stalled, and a C1255 EBCM internal malfunction, could these two codes be related?? Tommorow I am going to check the water pump gasket, and see if thats where I am losing coolant since I will most likely have to do a water pump on it anyhow.------Thanks, Jack

Those tow codes may be related to each other, but not to your overheating problem.

Two gallons of coolant is a lot to add. The leak should be easy to locate at that rate.

Yes, I know those two codes wouldnt be related to the cooling problem, I just worded my sentence wrong, anyway, I found that the water pump housing gasket was leaking and I found a bad bypass hose, the small one that connects to the top of the pump and to the metal tube, I was wondering if anyone knew what size that hose is?? My guess is 5/8 so I am going to pick up a peice of 5/8 hose tomorrow so I can replace that, I decided not to change the water pump because it looks like it already had been changed and whoever did it didnt replace the housing gasket, instead they used white silicone to seal it, I guess it didnt work, lol. Also I think that coolant was leaking onto the connector for the ABS pump and thats what those codes were about, so I am going to disconnect it and clean and dry the terminals and see what happens. I checked for play on the shaft of the pump and there is none so I am gonna just leave it alone. So thats what I am up to, I also found that loud noise was the A/C compressor, so I took it out tonite and I gonna get another one tomorrow. The hardest part about taking that out was getting the lines off the back of the compressor, I had to disconnect the two lines from the condensor and the accumulator to allow the compressor to move forward enough for me to get my had up there to get to the bolt for the lines, what a pain, but after that, it came right out.------Jack
