was just wondering if maybe anyone here has tried to build up a 425, I have a mostly stock 79 425 I am using a edlebrock performer intake, a comp cam.481 lift and 260 duration and 110 lobe center, custom built lake style headers, pertronix inginition, and I have an engine builder to degree the cam, going to start with stock quadra jet carb.....the car is going to weigh around 1800 to 2000 lbs has a turbo 400 and a 9in ford rear with a 3.50 gear, anybody got an idea of what kind of power this combo should put out

The cam and intake and headers may take the power from 180 to maybe 280-300 . That stock cam is quite a turd so your on the right track for sure. It probably won't need as much initial timing now. If it starts turning over hard when its warm, don't be afraid to turn it back some. A healthy motor shouldn't need much more than 12 degrees initial timing anyway. I've heard of stripped down stock motored 425 coupe devilles running 13.5's in the quarter. If you are 2000 lbs with 3.50 gears you should be much quicker. Keep an eye out for 472's and 500's, they go pretty cheap sometimes.
