I'm leasing my '08 CTS tomorrow. Besides asking for free oil changes and washes, what other freebee's do you ask for before you sign the contract?

I got nothing from my dealer except a plant. If you get free oil changes, I'd say you're pretty lucky. Regular maintenance is not included when you buy a Caddy.

My dealer offered to shovel my driveway whenever it snows and mow my lawn in the summer. I'm serious.:cool2:

All you're getting is a beautiful car, GM Supplier, no money down and a low monthly payment? Sheesh. I'd make them throw in the Salesman's commission, free oil changes for life and a key to building in case you want to come in at night and watch the TV in lounge.

Don't let the dealer wash it unless you don't mind swirls in the clearcoat.

Did you ask for an STD? I'm sure the salesman will throw one in.

We got a nice Cadillac hat, two real nice key chains, an extra Cadillac pen, and an owners manual for an Escalade, all without asking. We also got the car for $500 under supplier, they did not add any dealer stickers to the car, and they did not drill any holes in the front bumper.

The others are just jealous.

I went to the local Infinity dealer to check out the G37 coupe. Took it for a ride and it was nice, but I'm leasing the CTS today. Talk about freebees. They had a mini diner in the showroom. There were about 5-6 stools and they served breakfast and lunch. Hot meals too! There were other assorted eats from cookies to coffee and ice cream. The stools had these old farts sitting on them. My salesman said it's the same people everyday. I thought to myself, the price of your car includes enough margin to feed these guys everyday for he rest of their lives. I'm not buying a car here.

I figure there are two ways to deal with freebees: before or after the sale price is agreed upon.

Before the sale, you could ask for freebees and it's really just part of the sales price negotiation. If I were a sales rep, I'd love it, because I could sweeten the deal with a $10 dollar hat or an oil change, rather than a $1K-$2K concession on price.

After the sale, I don't think I would ask for a freebee, although a sales rep might opt to give me something. At that point, it's a way for the sales rep or the dealer to say thanks for spending a huge sum of your money with us. It's also a cheap way to increase the odds that the customer comes back for a future purchase, and, if it's something like a hat or a coffee cup, it's a good way to do some advertising.

You shoulda walked over to the old farts and said "Hey, thanks for gaming the system and increasing the price of MY car to pay for your lunch"

I got the same deal, minus the Escalade manual and hat. My dealer said they would wash and vacuum my car anytime I wanted. I'll wash it myself though. I don't trust they do a great job in detailing the car.

i dont think jealousy has much to do with it.
upon leasing my CTS we didnt ASK For anything...you're about to spend money towards a $45k car & you're gonna ask the salesman to have his pen & gifts!?!? as if spending time to work with you on getting you into a cadillac that you couldnt afford at sticker (or to buy) wasn't enough, and slashing hundreds/thousands off their profit wasn't good enough either, "gimme more!" no way to sugar coat this, to me it just sounds down right stupid

we got a couple cool cadillac pens
2 free oil changes
a vacuum cleaner for the car
a cooler w/ a built in radio for the beach
chrome e&g upper & lower mesh grilles

we got all this IN ADDITION to excellent service that kept us & all our friends going back to them. We seriously did build a great relationship with our salesman and dealership. and we did not ask for a single one of these things. nor did our salesman try to bribe us with these things.

with the exception of the grilles, everything else was given to us AFTER all the paper work was signed and right before we walked out the door.

even without the "freebies" we would have gone back to our dealership (and we are going back for the 09 V).
a pen that i used maybe twice and a cooler i never used dont mean jack... i could care less about them and totally overlooked them until just now when you brought up "freebies," they didnt sell the car or the dealership.
i loved the car.
the salesman spent HOURSS working with us (and even came in during a snow storm to sit down & crunch more numbers with us)
THATS what i took away from the date of sale.

if you really want, pay the shipping charges & i'll send you my pens, cooler, and vac.

or that they are so good at what they do that they sell enough cars to have these great things for there customers. Also to speak of their character that they're not like, "okay okay, you signed the papers, now get out and stop eating our food!"

Is the pen provided by the factory, or the dealer? I know it was in with the owners manual pouch, but I don't know who put it there.

I tell ya, man...I love soooo much about this car, but the steering thing is just killing me. Driving home from work today the wheel was vibrating like a madman on the 405, and once I got onto surface streets it would still pull to the right. This is the last I'll bore you guys with all this crap until I get resolution. I'm going to tell the dealer I want a rep from Cadillac to come out and ride in the car himself and take care of this problem. I feel like I'm making payments to drive the base 08 CTS I get as a loaner car...

So the doorbell rings while we're having dinner tonight. I go to the door, look outside just in time to see someone driving off. I look down, and there is a gift basket from the dealer.

It contained:

1. A thank you card and the request to contact my sales rep if the delivery experience didn't meet my expectations and to otherwise please give them high marks with GM when the survey arrives.
2. An insulated travel beverage cooler.
3. Pad of paper with dealership masthead.
4. Dealership pen.
5. One insulated travel mug.
6. Bag of caramel "pops" that taste suspiciously like Cap 'n Crunch, except it doesn't tear up the roof of your mouth the way the cereal does.
7. A rectangular shaped cookie with the dealership logo and address printed onto the white icing.
8. Another small bag of something else to eat. I can't remember what it was.
9. A $50 gift card redeemable in the dealership gift shop.

Okay, fine. Thank you.

OK, picked up my new CTS tonight and it is awesome! I swear to God I didn't ask for anything. But this is what the sales manager handed me( it is my birthday today and he knew it), A big real leather case. In side it had a big calculator. A small titanium case that had a airgage, flashlight, and a pen all in a titanium finish. 2 Keychains. A toll pass holder. Deck of playing cards( I'm not making any of this up). Everything had the dealership logo on it. :bouncy:

The best part was he figured the Conquest incentive incorrectly (I own a Acura). It's $500 for a buy, but $1000 for a lease. So my monthly was reduced to $560!!!!! All this and I never even negotiated. They never told me an untruth and treated me like a king. What a great experience!

Can I mention that it was Steve Foley Cadillac, Northbrook, Il.

That's funny. My Conquest incentive was $1000 for the purchase, and my dealer brought it up to me as well. I thought that was very cool. Oh, and I forgot to mention the packets of "Tuscany" coffee and Chinese crackers. Heh. Hah ha ha ha ha. Seriously. Those were part of my package. I really wasn't expecting anything but the car I ordered, so hey, I'm very happy, despite the oddball gift items. I am looking forward to blowing the $50 card in their gift shop, however.

Highdy ho neighbor (sorta). got mine at Weil in Libertyville (you can get hummers there too but that's a different thread/forum). not a conquest since I am and always have been a GM guy (used to bleed chevy orange). treated me very well, best new-car-purchase experience I've ever had.
guess I'm not the demographic that leads to additional sales, didn't even get the grille medallion others speak about. :)

Same here -- $1000 toward the purchase. GM should be happy to know that it was the amount that sealed the deal; otherwise, my wife would've been out test driving a Lexus GS the following weekend.
