Ok so I reset the codes about two weeks ago(had battery issues with false codes), just yesterday check engine light comes on. I pulled the codes and got p1660(cooling fan control circuts) b1148(passenger side air bag malfunction). The first one is current and teh second is history, but the air bag light has stayed on today. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start by checking fuses and relays for those circuits. Do the fans come on correctly?
Need to know year and type of car? Chevy, Nash, Hudson? Cadillac? add this to your signature profile please.

Its a 1997 deville base. I haven't noticed if the fans kick on. I drove the car for about an hour straight yesterday and it didn't over heat if that helps.
Thanks! With the climate control on in AUTO mode and A/C compressor on, one of the fans, at least, should come on right away. The fans seldom come on as driven, usually at idle to stabilize eng. temp. You need to find out how to trouble shoot the fan circuit, either thru doing a "search" here for cooling fan fault or getting a factory service manual.

Thanks i'll have to try that in a few days when I have some free time. What would ahve caused teh airbag light to stay on and throw a code? Light hasn't come on since that one time yesterday.
Erase the code and hope for the best!! Its good that it is a history code. maybe a fluke?

Its been a while since i had time to work on the Caddy. This weekend check engine light stayed on, pulled the codes and now its staying current(same code as before, no new codes). So i changed the relay and didn't find a fuse blown, check engine still stays on. And now I have a leak that looks like its coming from the water pump. Its getting to the point where I'm gonna run this thing into a wall:bomb:. Was there a fuse i might have missed or should i look elsewhere. Could the leak be causing the code. It doesn't leak much maybe a quart or two since Friday to yesterday.
Raul it might be the fan motor. I mean if you replaced a relay and checked the fuses, and none of those are blown and the relays are new. It might just be the fan motor itself. Unless you might have a wire grounding out somewhere. Turn your a/c on and pop your hood and get out and make sure that fan is on. If it is on, disconnect the power from that fan and try running it to your other fan, if the fan does nothing it could be that the motor is bad. Actually it would be that if the fan does not kick on with you connecting your a/c fan power to the engine fan. Because then you are hooking it up directly. Or you could try running a jumper wire. Another thing it could be is broken or damaged fan blades. It could be their coming on and just not doing their job because the fan(s) themselves are in bad shape. If their broken just get new ones. And the water leak, might want to fix that. You might wind up wishing you had just run it into a wall if you dont.

When I looked at teh fans yesterday only one kicked on and it didn't look like any of the blades were broke. I didn't get a chance to check for a grounded wire though. As for the leak, i ahd a friend flush my radiator for me when I was out of town and he forgot to put in the coolant tabs. So I put three of those in yesterday and i'm going to give it a couple days to see if that fixes the leak. If that doesn't do it i might be needing to change the water pump because that is where it looks like the leak is coming from but I couldn't tell for sure. Thanks for the help bldunn, its much appreciated.

Checked out the car today again. Fan code is now history not sure why though. The leak however is coming from the water pump. I'm changing that tomorrow was just wondering how hard it is to change and if i should change the tensioner for it as well? Also what is an average price for both?
