Both MoFex and I have had what appears to be a similar route recalculation problem. Both of us have experienced this multiple times the same route. In my case I noticed that even though the screen gave me the grey splash banner "Cannot recalculated route. Please choose another destination..." the guidance continues with voice and tracking mileage to the destination. When this banner appears, the screen is non-functional in terms of being able to change anything. However, the routing guidance continues audibly just not visually on the screen with the exception of tracking miles remaining until the desitnation is reached.

Another similarity between MoFex and my problem is repeated rejection of the suggested routing. In my case I get the grey banner after 3 or 4 refusals to take the suggested routing even though it continues to provide voice guidance correctly after the banner appears.

As a result, my suspcions is the bug is not in the routing logic itself but between the routing logic and the screen display. I have had two other Navis made by Alpine and neither one exhibited any serious routing glitches. It is my understanding that the CTS Navi is also made by Alpine so I am speculating that it had essentidally the same routiing algorithm tied to Navteq digital maps but a different dispay interface. My suspicions that it is the latter that is causing the problem and not the underlying routing logic.

My deduction is based upon my own anecdotal experience but if others have found the same thing perhaps this is a clearer indication that the bug lies in the link to the screen as opposed to the routing logic. I believe the Alpine routing logic should be very refined by now since my first Alpine based Navi was on a 2001 Acura MDX. The next one was on a 2005 Jeep GC. However, the CTS Navi screen along with the other functions are very much different and that may be at the root of the problem. Again, without more CTS owners experiencing the same problem, this is only speculation on my part so how about it?
