: When does tax season jack up car prices?

I've heard that the best time to sell is a month or so after the new year, because everyone is getting their refund checks and that means everyone has more money to spend and car prices all go up. Well when is this going to happen? I've been looking on eBay and Craigslist at the old Caddies from the mid-80s to the mid-90s, and they are still not selling at higher prices. Many auctions are cutting out far below the reserve.

It seems like last Fall, prices were higher than they are now. But I didn't sell back then because I thought prices would be higher now. I'm reluctant to post a new auction with such bottomed-out prices. Are we still in the post-Christmas slump that makes car prices go down? I thought now was the time cars sold more since Spring is approaching.

Try just "slump" period.
