Just a quick question.
I have the trans (auto) in park and no battery in the car at the moment.
How can I get it out of park ?? I know there's a trick.

I don't want to reconnect the battery as I have half of the motor apart right now but need to move the car in the morning. I don't want to crawl underneath to disconnect the linkage but if that's what it takes than I will.

Thank you.

Put the key in it. Turn it to the run position. Then shift it to nuetral. Not sure why this would not work.

Because there's an electronic lock on the shifter and my battery is out.

Mines did it with the battery out. Maybe something is wrong with mine.

From the Archives:

The solenoid is located on the left side of the shift mechanism inside the console. You can see it if you pull the boot off. Squeeze the bottom of the boot in to remove it from the console trim. Push the yellow tab while you move the shifter into neutral.

Yeah, pull the shift boot up and it should pop out, then there is a yellow tab that you can push, move the shifter while it is depressed. I do it a lot too when the batteries are dead.
