I have a 1995 Deville that i bought for a mere $1000. The only problem that I really have mechanically that is causing a code to show up is what appears to be the TCC Engagement. I have read that there is a MemCal/PROM (whatever that is) to fix this issue. What I do not know is where to get this thingmajig and how to put it in or how much it costs to buy the part and have the dealership put it in. Is it something kind of like a relay, pull the old one and plug in the new one, or does a dealer absolutely have to do this to prevent a really bad error from someone doing it on their own? If you could please help me. I just need to know part number if available, where I can get it from, and who would be best to put it in. or if i could do it myself anyway.
Any and all advice to this situation will be greatly appreciated. Thank you much.

I know zip about this specific issue (but will post anyway :hmm:). A PROM is a Programmable Read-Only Memory chip that controls the logic of electronic and mechanical components. If you can find one, it should be a DIY swap. Basically, all of what is called a "computer" on most cars (except the really new ones) is really a PROM - not a true computer from the nerd definition. A PROM takes a collection of electrical inputs in and has the logic to sort out what electrical inputs should be output based on what signals it gets. The TCC is probably electrically engaged by a solenoid that is controlled by a PROM that decides when the TCC engages based on vehicle speed, engine temperature, the phase of the moon, etc. If there is an updated version, it may correct your problem if the OEM logic has been improved. After all of that, I still can't tell you what part you need or where it goes, but I got my post count up
