It doesn't look terribly dissimilar to the Pontiac G8's body lines. Looks like a Mustang hood IMO. The whole design is seriously lack-luster to me. I hope there's at least something exciting under the hood.

I think that car is better looking than any North American Ford product, Chrysler product, and most of GM's current cars.

Follow the link for powerplant details :)

Follow the link for powerplant details :)The front end is sharp but the whole backside of the car looks like a late 90s design. Certainly a nice car with great power, but nothing special. GM has a number of better designs and a number of great powerplants.

It is pretty bad that the poor Ford guys, especially the SHO guys who bleed Ford blue, are clamoring for this car when GM is already offering the G8...

Well, it's certainly different from the 1962 Falcon my Dad bought after gas prices spiked in 1979:

I thought it was the dorkiest car I'd ever seen, and a Ford to boot. So I named it Frumpy Fred.

Despite its looks and being a Ford, Fred was actually a pretty good car. 170-cubic-inch straight six with a three on the tree. Got mileage in the 20s, and it could go if you put your foot in it.

One time, shortly after getting my driver's license, I was late to work and drove Fred 80 MPH down the freeway with the parking brake on (there was no light on the dash to remind dumb-ole-me). So when I got out of the car, I could smell the rear brake linings burning. I think it was 20 years or more before I confessed this incident.

Ha, those old sixties falcons and comets are a PERFECT candidate for a 5.0 5spd from a wrecked Capri (Capri had factory traction bars!) or mustang. My uncles built a bunch of them liek that...

The current and previous generation Falcon is one of the hottest "everyman" sedans ever. I envy Australia.

I had a baby blue 1960 Falcon that looked just like your dads but it was a 2 door. Had the I-6 and 3 speed on the column. Fun but very slow car. I had wanted to do a 302 swap but I got an offer I could not refuse so on it went.

Looks like a Mazda 6 and an Acura TSX had a love child. :suspect:

...Does anybody else see a G8 with Ford badges stuck on?

Ditto. If Ford is going to bring back the old names then they should go retro like they did with the Mustang and TBird. Otherwise use the Focus, Fusion, Escape, etc naming convention.

It looks like a Holden.
