So I was waxing the car yesterday and accidentally got some wax on the edge of the vinyl top. Tried to wipe it off as good as I could but today looking at it in the sun it looks like the wax has bleached it? Guess I learned my lesson - don't know anything about vinyl tops - anything I can do about it at this point? Thanks all,

Well I just took a sponge and dish detergent to it to see if I could "clean" it off and it helped - not nearly as noticeable. Guess I'm being more careful next time I wax.

The best thing that I have found for removing wax/polish from a textured surface is an old toothbrush assuming you use soft. You won't want to put a lot of pressure to abrade the surface, just using the brush to clean out the little crevaces. This works extremely well on getting the wax out of the edges on name plates, raised lettering, emblems, etc. Just rub the brush across, wipe the brush on a rag, rub some more, wipe ... voila! :)

For getting around emblems, it also helps a lot to dampen the bristles of the toothbrush with quick detailer, helps break it down faster, and eliminates dry-wax-powder.

I doubt that it actually bleached the top, it probably just got wax into the pores of the vinyl, so it should wash completely out after a while. If you think that's bad try getting wax out of a canvas top!

Also, try putting some dressing on the top, it may help hide the appearance of the dry wax.
