View Full Version : Quick crankcase breather ?

Sorry if this is a dumb question or in the wrong section but couldn't find the answer I was looking for.

I removed the crankcase breather from my engine block. The metal box that bolts to the motor behind the head.
Inside there was a plastic what looks like baffle that partially blocked off one of the holes. The piece was warped but the moment I touched it the thing crumbled to dust and now I don't know what to do.
Should I make something that would fit the original location or is it OK to reinstall the breather without that part ?

Can't find anything in my service manual or in any thread discussing the breather so maybe I'm the only one dumb enough to have broken that bit.

I appreciate any help as I need to have this motor back in the car and running by Sunday.

Pictures always help. Now, using the one below, describe what you broke. Did you actually split the box open? You don't have to.
Spraying the parts with GUNK or any carb cleaner is enough. Click on the picture for the complete write-up.

Thanks Elvin.
I did read that post as part of my research.

If you were to turn that breather upside down you would see that little baffle.
I didn't split the breather but I did remove it from my engine.
