My 1990 Deville has 260,000 km on it and it's not running as smooth as it did. How do you clean out the tubes in the throttle body and get rid of the carbon. What spray is the best to use? What are the tubes in the throttle body called and what do they do? Mine are almost totally plugged.
Thanks for the help

Hold the 2 butterfly blades open with the engine off, (eitter hold the gas pedal down or move teh throttle linkage by hand and hold it open.)Get a stiff wire (coat hanger) and then spray any make of carb cleaner, throttle body cleaner etc.. down into teh holes and use the metal hanger to break the carbon loose, just let it fall down and it will burn off next time you start the car
The tubes are called the egr stack tubes, not sure how to explain their function though.
While you have the carb cleaner also use a toothbrush to clean the butterfly blades throughly. Be accurate with the spray and dont get it on anything else nearby.
