View Full Version : motor knocks really bad ocjmakaveli 02-08-08, 04:34 PM on my 94 fleetwood it started shaking and the motor sounds like its knocking really bad do you guys think the motor is out? with 80000 miles on it?
for no reason it just sounds like somethings lose inside the motor and it barely stays on. dkozloski 02-08-08, 04:53 PM Tell us the whole story. CaddyChillin77777 02-08-08, 06:23 PM I've had a knocking problem, can't figure out the source. Try getting a tuneup because my guess is the engine is either delayed or starting way ahead of time. Check the distributor - on my car, readjusting and realigning it reduced a lot of the knocking and made the car run much better. Also make sure the idle isn't set too low. That's about all I can come up with. One question though, does your car knock when the engine is cold, the cease after you've been driving for a while?
-Lee TexasCadillac 02-08-08, 08:58 PM have you checked the harmonica balancer to see if it is coming apart? TexasCadillac Does it sound lilke the bottom end of the engine is coming apart or does it sound like it is knocking from super lean fuel ratio? The sound is much higher in the engine (like in the head area in the combustion chamber).
Anything happen recently?
Any check engine light? Codes?
Hope it isn't like the LT1 on my trailer right now (for sale if someone is interested, hurt bottom end, but not driven, I can tear oil pan off once it warms up if someone wants to know, came out of a 92K mile FWB, it was started on ether and somehow that hurt the bottom end, they tried to start it without gas in the tank! Make me an offer! engine is in 61109)
Does it sound like a 6.2 or 6.5L diesel on a 0F day? This one does... It DID still drive.... But we didn't... I used the engine to get on a trailer and off. ocjmakaveli 02-12-08, 07:37 AM Well the problem fixed itself i have no idea and neither do the mechanics where i took it to.
It was knocking and it sounded like the engine was in pieces on the inside it would shake terribly and barely stay on.
They say its possible the oil pump was sticking cuz of the below 0 weather.
they just changed the oil and thats it but everything is running beautifully the oil pressure is fine and everything
I swear the engine sounded like it had no oil and as if hte pistons had broke and everything. It was stumbling and rumbling and grumbling i never heard an engine sound so bad. You would think it was like a 300,000 mile engine the way it sounded and now its running like normal no sounds whatsoever.
I added some lucas oil additive to help with the cold ass weather.
i know its hard to diagnose online i was just desperate in the moment the engine sounded soooo painfully bad.
I'm selling the caddy for $9000 and when this happened my heart dropped. Selling it?? How could you???? There is nothing that can replace it.... ocjmakaveli 02-12-08, 01:50 PM The main reason im selling it is law related........
Well in the past year i got 7 tickets or so. The car just looks so way mafia looking and its so scary that cops pull me over weekly I have the warnings and tickets to prove it. How many people have gotten pulled over twice in one day 2 weeks in a row? pulled over 6 times in 1 month?
has anyone ever gotten a warning for not using a turn signal when pulling into you homes driveway?
has anyone ever gotten a warning for not using your turn signal early enough before turning when the damn street is only like 150 ft long its not a real street..........
well yes i have and oh yea dont get a headlight burned out because i got pulled over twice on teh way home from work and i work 20 mins from my house lolololol
well yes dont forget tinted windows violations up the ass and front license plate then ummm......
tailgating issues and ummm
headlights werent on when its barely turning dark i had the car on auto headlights and they DIDNT TURN ON lmao cuz it wasnt dark enough........well warning though because they said so.....
and the frequent get out of the car im going to search you.....
but yea i get mostly 90% warnings but the tickets that do stick were costing me my license
the last ticket i got was for speeding but fair enough i was speeding yet the cop felt it necessary to charge me with drag racing......why? because he felt like it and i got arrested fingerprinted and everything it was so humiliating i was never arrested before.......
well i hda to pay a lawyer 2500 dollars to fight the drag racing and i won it was dismissed because a lack of ****in evidence.....still had to pay my lawyer though
It was wierd though when i plead not guilty to drag racing i didnt have a lawyer and the judge gave me a dirty look and almost laughed but when i took my lawyer he was so polite and didnt hesitate to throw out the charge..
Oh well damn well easily 5000 in tickets over 4 years ive had the caddy 6 years though...
Yea i could take off the wheels grille and tints but then I wouldn't be driving my car I'd be driving a car that cops would be less judgemental over.
I wish i could keep it but at 23 years old I'm just too young and cops think im a thug because of my age etc blah blah blah
sorry for my rant but i sold the car today for $8000 to a neighbor I had several offers from friends but most had trouble comin up with the money and i just want to get rid of the damn thing
As of now I'm on probation for 6 months and any ticket AT ALL means a 1 year suspension of my license in the caddy i wouldnt last a month before my next ticket.
Its so bad i get new tickets and warnings before i even get to my court date on older tickets its so frustrating. The one that stung the most was a 6mph over speeding ticket.
Im polite and everything its not me its just the car makes people judge you completely.
I understand in a way but oh well bye bye caddy!!!!!!!!!!! :crying2::crying2::crying2: My_favorite_Brougham 02-12-08, 01:58 PM Dude, sorry to hear of your rough luck. But does that mean little old ladies are always getting pulled over in your town, too? IDK... Well maybe you can get another Cadillac in the future so you wont have a "gangster car" to get you in trouble. Good luck to ya!
Best,
Greg jayoldschool 02-12-08, 02:03 PM My 95 SS sounded and ran like that when I popped one of the fuel injection fuses. There are two - one for each bank. 10 A. When blown, the car will run on batch fire, just so it will run. It made about 1/3rd the power, and struggled to get to 50mph. Mine was caused because the main harness had burned through on my passenger side header (the bracket was gone because it was on the trans dipstick tube, and I had swapped in the T56 manual). Repaired the harness, put in a new fuse, and the car runs perfect.
Those fuses are under the hood, in the box where the relays are. I know your car is working now, but just check them quickly... That bites. Where do you live? I will avoid that place!
You could go to the city board and abuse the politicians for harassment. That is a lawsuit they don't want. Got a stack of evidence of stupid things, I have heard of cops being warned by the politicians to lay off and leave certain people alone. Keep your nose clean, but honestly, that is harassment. Sue for mental distress, the cost of the car, options, mods, etc.
But it all costs money to do too, then if they get a rib up their butt to step it up a notch, they could... Depends on how corrupt they are....So it could get pretty bad too. Is it all one dept? What are you going to replace the Cad with? CTS-V is my recommendation.... they can't catch you for anything... ocjmakaveli 02-12-08, 09:14 PM i just bought a 2000 jaguar s-type its really nice in my humble opinion im probably gonna get a 97 deville too
