Anyone know who will paint my engine cover to look like carbon fiber? I know PIMPCADDY has one done like this.

Hey PIMP - Who did yours and did they remove the emblems to do it???

If you have the LS6, there's one that's been on EBay a couple times from Specterworks. I believe it's real CF for around $250. If I had the LS6, it'd be on my car by now!

Yes, my Buddy removed the emblems. Applied the carbon look and shot a few coats of clear. Almost a year now and no issues. I do wipe it down every time I wash the car.

they willing to do more?
I am sure they could make some cash doing it.

I don't see why they wouldn't.

I have an LS2. I'd be interested if they want the business.

Google it. Tom is busy working on a '69 Camaro for a customer.

Orange County Choppers did a bike recently where they used the same process for the tank and fenders just like what my buddy did for my engine cover. The bike was for some sporting goods hunting supply place back east. Cost is about $325 or so plus shipping. Much cheaper that the real carbon fiber kit from Cadillac.

Whatever floats your boat.

+ 1 for real carbon, if you like carbon.

I guess I don't get the "I wanna look like I have carbon, but I don't."

Put lace on before you paint and it will look like you have panties on your engine too, but you won't. :suspense:

Guys that ride bikes install this type of cosmetic faux carbon mod all the time and I just don't get it. To each they're own. Maybe I'm the only one that feels this way. I do like the painted engine covers. And I guess anything other than stock is better. I don't intend on starting anything, just bored.

Try to do it yourself if you want it. The good thing about paint is that if you screw it up you can have it redone.

I absolutely love the look of real carbon fiber. However, I'm not ready to shell out $950 for a 'real' engine cover on my DD. The panties look might also be OK. You never know...

I did it because my buddy offered. As for the real stuff, it's nice to look at but at too high a cost. I spend my money on the wheels.

Yeah, if it didn't come on my car when I bought it, I doubt I would have added it. But it is nice.

NAF, is there a practical reason to keep the engine cover, aside from NVH? I just don't see the point, unless you like the 'bling'. I took mine off after 50 miles.

I took mine off last weekend also. Now I can hear more of the engine sound over the B&B. Much better.

Is this a carbon fiber brace or is it just wrapped with a decal?

I think the carbon fiber looks great - I would like to have a set of carbon fiber corvette FRC's but I also like the strut tower brace in carbon...

I'm really not interested in cosmetic mods so why am I spending my time worrying about rims, carbon fiber frc's and window tint... What's wrong with me?? noooooo make it stop :nono:

I've got a friend in FLA that bought the setup to do that type of film application. The films are a lil expensive but there is no limit to what you can apply to just about anything (as long as it will fit in the tank). He "wrapped" his Impala intake piping with one hundred dollar bills. Looks sweet and makes me grin every time I see it.

Tony's (thetonyshow) looks the best IMO. I have a pic of it but I will let him post one. He has Black FRC's and he had a custom Carbon Cover made. And from what memory serves me it didn't cost him that much more than the stock one.

I'm with you, besides damn thing would go back on after the Maggie install-I actually took it off after my headers and exhaust install, as I wanted to hear the roar of the car.
To each his own, the CF does look sweet, much better than the stock gray.

Ew, Gene- that's the dustiest pic of my engine in existence!

Here's a better one:

Corvette FRCs trimmed to fit- Cadillac sill plate covers off an SRX covering the Corvette lettering and a real Carbon Fiber cover on the intake manifold. The CF cover is sold by a vendor on line for the Corvette, but it fits perfectly.

Thanks! Since I took that picture I've painted the "5.7L" and the little stripes around it on the FRCs with silver paint. Makes it "pop" a little more, and people really notice it.

So you have the stock brace under your CF Strut Brace?
