Sorry guys, not trying to beat this topic too much, but I'm in a bind of sorts trying to find out if the sump on a '70 Eldorado oil pan would be farther back than a stock Deville 368 oil pan. The 368 pan appears to be a rear sump unit, but is causing clearance problems in my old truck. I've only got enough money to buy one oil pan and need the most clearance possible. I appreciate your help more than you know.

The Eldorado sump is at the back to accommodate the right drive axle. Look here: http://www.gmcmhphotos.com/photos/showgallery.php?cat=3378

Here's an Eldorado Pan *****and ***** Rear Drive Caddy Pan
The RWD caddy pan I have appears to be rear sump. The sump, while near the back, is set forward a couple of inches. Those couple of inches are what's killing my install. I hope that the Eldorado pan might spare a couple by being set a little farther back

There are 3 oil pans used with the 472/500/425/368 family - front sump (68-76 RWD), rear sump (Eldorado), center sump (77-85 RWD).
