That's what the factory rated it. Caddy also said the low compression 500 will net 190hp/380'#. But it'll actually hit 300hp/470'#. So the 425's more likely to see 240-260hp and in the neighborhood of 400'#s.

Now the 425 in my particular car pushes about 4 hp and 200'#s.

Angela Desmond is building one that ought to top 400 HP and plenty of torque to spare. Look at some of her posts and you will find what you need to know.

Isn't the 425ci supposed to put out 340hp and 480ftlbs of torque at the flywheel?? (that's what my 1967 coupe deville is rated).

1977 Deville...............|............carb'd......... .......|..............injected

Brake Horsepower.......|....180 @ 4000 rpm..........|.......195 @ 3800 rpm
Torque.....................|.....320 lbs.-ft. @ 2000.....|.....320 lbs.-ft. @ 2400 rpm

Type this address into your browser.....lots of good, factory info there. I had to put some spaces in the address because of the "no link" rule.

Your 67 has a 429. Which is differant from the 500 family of engines. But those numbers are correct for the advertised ratings. Unfortunately, like many engines back in those days, they were overrated. I don't know that much about the 500 family really, I know even less about the older 429s and 390s so I can't say what it really would be.
