View Full Version : How to remove side mirrors Searched faq & forum, couldn't find any specifics on removing the entire side mirror, anybody know is there much to it? i'm thinking you remove the triangle shaped trim piece on the inside of the door and there is probably a bolt(s) and a wiring harness?
My paint guy has some extra time and I want to get my side mirrors repainted, have a lot of chips in the clear coat that can't be buffed out, looks like @ss. Gotta get everything lookin good for the meet in davenport! If anybody cares, you have to remove the entire door panel in order to remove the side mirrors. They are held on by 3 bolts, 1 of which you can't reach just by simply pulling back the triangular trim piece at the top of the door panel. Also, the wiring harness for the mirror runs down to the big black box mounted in the center of the door. SvB4EvA 02-29-08, 02:09 PM Thanks kfx.
Why did u need to get to them anyway? broke one? Thanks kfx. Why did u need to get to them anyway? broke one?
nah, if you see in my original post, i took them off to get repainted cause the clear coat on them was really beat up for some reason. it would suck because I would totally detail the whole car, but the mirrors still looked like they had bugs all over them because of the clear coat scratches. kinda weird, you'd think if the mirrors were that bad, the front end would be horrible as well. my front has the usual stone chips/scratches for an 03 with 76K, but doesn't look anywhere near as bad as the mirrors did. nickc50310 02-29-08, 02:23 PM nah, if you see in my original post, i took them off to get repainted cause the clear coat on them was really beat up for some reason. it would suck because I would totally detail the whole car, but the mirrors still looked like they had bugs all over them because of the clear coat scratches. kinda weird, you'd think if the mirrors were that bad, the front end would be horrible as well. my front has the usual stone chips/scratches for an 03 with 76K, but doesn't look anywhere near as bad as the mirrors did.
My front looks brand new now except my hood. If I would have been thinking and feeling shiesty, I would have scratched my hood up and said it happened in that last wreck.
Oh well, I guess my criminalistic ways are pretty much gone these days. I must be getting old... LOL! You'll have to be sure and dig them back out for the meet in April! I'm coming just so I can watch you and flyflip have a cage match. nickc50310 02-29-08, 02:31 PM You'll have to be sure and dig them back out for the meet in April! I'm coming just so I can watch you and flyflip have a cage match.

I had mine replaced under warranty awhile ago due to noise coming from the motor when folding (mine have electronic motor not manual) and I don’t believe they needed to open the door panel to reach the side mirrors…. | |
