I stumbled on this on ebay, I'm kind of old fashioned, I believe that when you drive a Cadillac, especially an older one, it bespeaks volumes about your taste, your education, your good judgment, your fiscal soundness.. tell me what you think about this car, and what it says.

That's what one would call 'ghetto fab'. Aside from the paint looking like shit, that car has a lot of orange peel. The only thing I would take from that car would be that wood steering wheel.

Well, if it could truly "speak", it would probably say..."somebody please put me in an auto crusher and put me out of my misery". :bigroll:

Are we REALLY going to get into the bashing other peoples cars because they don't fit YOUR tastes! I was pretty sure we got that all cleared up a few posts ago.

The car Is ugly as ****! the paint is a disaster , the cheap ass dual tv deck, ebay tv visors and flip down need to go. would be clean if it were a single color. or a factory style two tone like the black and brown one in someones sig here.

The interior is clean as hell. the 22's are nice, Personally id only ride a 20, with a vouge if i had to ride a big rim. but thats me.

The person who built it, loved it so give them a E for Effort for keeping the car out of the crusher.

And speaking on the crusher. for people who raise hell and feel proud for saving rusted out, tore back caddy from the crusher , seem to want to toss anything other than "show room origial" cars into it. WTF!:noidea:

There are some Lowrider / Hot Rod / Donks / Resto's that look like shit, and need to be redone. but ill be man enough to compliment them on their effort and give "Subtle" suggestions to make it look better. Not oh thats some bull shit and your disrespecting the Cadillac name, and its prestige blah blah blah.

Its A Freakin' CAR! an automobile. a piece of machinery. Granted they have produced some of the bes looking and classic cars around, its still only sheet metal and plastic. I know the family traditions held in these cars and the personal love for them, but don't take that personal love and force it on someone else, or down another person because they don't have the same views as you.

I love this website because of the vast information available, and SOME of the peoples dedication to the brand, but some of the people here need to take the blinders off an grow up.

Okay. We commenting on the vehicle or the grammer.(LOL) It is ugly but seats look nice. I like the steering wheel as well. Also not bad mileage considering the year. God Bless, Joe

I was pretty sure we got that all cleared up a few posts ago. Nope. It was posted and the poster asked what we all thought of it. The opinions may not be to your liking but they seem honest and from the gut. The impression I got when I saw it was ghetto-licious. :thepan:

well **** it then. at least Us lowrider owners are driving up the value and demand. Even with 13's pumps and dumps, candy paint and 5th wheel falling is still a cadillac. Cadillac Pimpin' Forever as they say

Sorry, but those wheels look as out of place as combat boots on an Amishman. That's my main gripe with the car, and nothing is going to change that, because it just plain looks out of proportion. Kinda like it swallowed up four UFOs and is riding around on them. Just because it's faddish doesn't make it right, although people can do whatever they want with their cars. We had a friend back in 1969 that put airplane tires on his 1954 Chevy Belair, looked totally retarded, but whatever...:ill:

The "recreation" of this Cadillac makes it appear anything but Cadillac, except, perhaps, the seats and interior. From what I've read the tall wheels and narrow side wall tires may have some merit, but at the expense of ride. IMO they make the cars look like gypsy caravan wagons. Gaudy and unappealing.

The 22's do make the car look like a chuck wagon. sits way to high. a stock caddy should be more more than 6 inches from the ground.

Ok, I'll chime in on this.

Taste: The owner appreciates donks which are simply 80s (mostly GM vehicles) with upgraded larger wheels and suspensions. The color indicates that the owner wanted to stand out and have attention. The interior tells me the owner was more interested in impressing others (who most likely would be outside looking in) as opposed to having a personal style or taste to express

Education: The owner has graduate High School and has enough employment to afford to have custom wheels, paint, interior and audio-visual work done on the vehicle. Like it or not - the owner spent money on the vehicle.

Good Judgment: The owner clearly is not concerned about fitting in or conforming to some style he thinks is outdated or 'old'. I think the owner is between 21 and 28 and hopefully has no other responsibilities or dependents other than him or herself (but come on - who really thinks this is a young woman).

Fiscal Soundness: If the owner is an IT guy making $48k a year, single and board and he's spent $5k on the car with a $2k investment to buying it, then I think he's spending disposable income about as well as someone who's making $24k a year but buys a $3k flat screen TV.

My opinion about the car ... It's not my style. But I'm not into donks. I'd rather have a subtle paint job. I also care little about the opinions of others - so I wouldn't have anything on my car in the effort to impress others. However, all that being said: I too plan on re-painting my car, having chrome after-market wheels, changing the steering wheel and the interior. I think most of us have these plans as well.

So bottom line - He's doing what we most of us want to do - he's just playing from a different game book.

For me it's not the customizing of the car, it's just the goofiness of the tires/wheels. They just look plain goofy. I've liked custom cars for ages, even the Beatles/John Lennon's psychedelic painted Rolls Royce. It had normal wheels though. I'm just never going to bond with these oversized wheels and skinny-minny tires that look out of proportion to the car. Same with lowriders, I don't have a prob with a lowered car, but the tiny little tire/wheels look goofy on those as well. I'm gonna shut up now, maybe go polish my 15" wheelcovers and clean my whitewalls...

Not for me but ... well, it made somebody happy. And that's a good thing. Happiness is a commodity not so easy to come by and if in some small (and I mean, really small) way these mods and this wasted $$$ (in my mind) brought some poor wretch of a soul some kind of happiness, well, that's that.

And think, if this time and energy were spent in a not-so-positive way, well, that wouldn't be so good a thing.

Just because I like cars as original as possible and whatever mods inward and not outward, that doesn't mean this isn't America and whoever can do whatever the fhdhf they want and can afford to do.

Like how my dad painted one side of his fence purple and pink because he doesn't like his neighbor (I don't "really' know what was behind it but those two old codgers hate each other). And after all, they probably have more in common than they think, like fighting in Korea to start with.

That's just America, I guess. And it's a good thing.

Hey Barrister_07101... I really like the way you think, your dissection of my original thought is great! just for the record, I chose my words very carefully for the post.. I deliberately tried to show no judgment of the car, or the perceived owner.. I just happened to mention that I'm old fashioned..and that really could mean anything, it just happens that most of us thought I meant I don't like this car, but fact is I didn't say I liked or disliked the mods on the car.. I just happened to mention what I like to think about what a persons car may say about them.. or about me for that matter, and I invited other's thoughts on the matter.. And I must say, I've really enjoyed reading all the different points of view, some of us don't like the mods, some of us liked parts of the whole package, some thought it made the care worthless, some defended the owners choices... I think it's neat that whoever did this chose to save a Fleetwood, although personally I may have spent the money on some more "restorative" verses "customizing" procedures on that car, I still view this person as a conservationist, who had the courage to do things cosmetically that expressed their passion for the car in a way they wanted.., not unlike many of us who will spend several hours and hundreds of dollars detailing a car with a street value of about a grand... I know I do that, and to me that shows this car is loved... and I'd rather see a Caddy that someone obviously put a lot of care, time and money into, ( like the ebay car we're discussing) then the dented, rusty, window missing , barely moving work trucks that so many of our cars seem to become. and besides that, this car would make a nice starter for someone wanted one to restore, barely 100 k on the odometer, and like it's been mentioned, that interior is in great shape, seats don't stay that nice by accident..

Well I guess it is my turn to give my 2 cents worth. I belong to a car club here in Palm Springs and some of the members have some incredible cars of all makes and from all different decades. Some of these members think that my 87 Brougham is too new for the club. I have other older cars but I am just as proud of my 87 as I am of my older cars. I look at cars like art. There are some paintings that are and always will be classics no matter what frame you put them in. We all may not agree on what is attractive or tasteful but isnt that what makes us individuals?

Oh the car, not my thing either :suspense:

Here's the seller speaking: "As you can see there is a lot of high priced things installed on the car."

Yet, he speaks zero about the engine, trans, chassis etc. :canttalk:

Thanks Matt. I think the questions asked were excellent. I think that people often forget that they have evolve over time. How many 'wise men' had muscle cars (with 6 cylinders), G60s and Cragars? Hmmmmm? Now a few decades later and they want to knock the modern day equivalent. I agree that I'd rather see a car [even a FW] being taken care of and loved - painted with with Screaming Chicken on the hood, than seeing another classic in the weeds wasting away.

[/URL]It does bespeak all those things but sometimes in a negative way. The example you picked out here to me says: "I built this car w/the money I made off drugs but should be paying for child support and rent with instead".

That's the kind of car that will obliterate property values if it's seen driving through your neighborhood.
