For guys of my generation (oh, say 45-55) there are few better "road" songs than Deep Purple's "Highway Star" - crank in the Made In Japan live version, turn the CD to 11 and let 'er rip... guarantee a good time...

Also, almost anything from mid 80's ZZ Top is good pavement poetry.

:coolgleam Yeah, I'd throw Highway Star on the list.

1. Lowrider--War
2. Eminence Front--The Who
3. Won't Get Fooled Again--The Who
4. When You Dance--Southside Johnny
5. Born To Run--Bruce Springsteen
6. Long Twin Silver Line--Bob Seger
7. Sweet Emotion--Aerosmith
8. Thunder Road--Bruce Springsteen (live version is better IMO)
9. I Found Love--Lone Justice
10. Shaky Ground--Fishbone

Eclectic collection, but I actually do own all of those. I'd give honorable mention to the complete soundtracks from Animal House, The Blues Brothers, and Blues Brothers 2000.
