Since Cadillac dropped out of the SCCA since they don't have a current model out now, will they be bringing the new CTS-V back to SCCA? I'd be interested in seeing as to how it would look in full race gear because the last CTS-V was hot as hell

Hope so. Might also be cool if they tried ALMS or something a bit higher in profile also.

I read in Autoweek a private company purchased the older CTS-VR's and will be campaigning them in the 08 season.

This might be enough to hold us V fans over until they can develop the next CTS-VR

That car makes me vomit. :ack:

Cadillac's decision to go back to the World Challenge GT series is probably going to weighed heavily by the bean counters, as SPEED has done a terrible job marketing the series. The only people who really saw it were already fans of the series or hardcore V owners like me (went to Sebring every year! :D). No live broadcasts of the races and no advertising- even on their own channel!

The V-Rs were partly about torture testing components, but mostly about brnad awareness and shaking off the "old people" image of Cadillac. If only 10,000 people watch the race, it's wasted money. If SPEED channel would get off their butts and promote the series, show the races live, and create some excitement about the competition for the points (like they do in their NASCAR commercials) it would make a whole lot more sense for Cadillac to invest a half a million into a new CTS-VR.

Oh, btw- Me and my buddy with Andy and Lawson:

It looks like Remington got involved.

Andy is a class act and I have met him a couple times over the years.

A half a million dollars won't get you much of a race team. The boys in NASCAR are talking $50,000,000 just to get the slack out of the systm for one year. An F1 team spends $100,000,000 to $200,000,000 every year. Your corner gas station sponsoring a sprint car at your local dirt track probably has a $100,000 budget. A good set of heads for a NASCAR racer go for about $25,000.

They never disclosed the figure, but rumors pointed toward approximately $250k per car to build the WC CTS-Vs. Of course that's not including crew, drivers, travel, yadda yadda....I was just talking about the initial construction cost of the car.

That's about what a Sprint Cup car costs so it sounds plausible. You have to have about a half dozen cars to field a two car team so it's going to be steep. You need cars to test, cars to fix, and backup cars. I wouldn't expect Cadillac to try to do it on a shoestring.

I'm sure Cadillac wouldn't let their cars get embarassed on the track and I'm sure Andy Pilgrim wouldn't let it happen either but it sounds like it is Remington's team now.

Wonder if the WC GT cars can run the supercharger? If not the LSA engine then what will the CTS VR run? What's the rule?

I think they are still running the 1st gen V since the 2nd gen isn't out yet officially.

Sounds about right. Got to see the Dinan. M6 in carbon fiber garb at Daytona during a club event. Later seen it in Autoweek for $300K, which has dropped to $250K.

My AMG six cylinder engine costs over $30K out of warranty. Can't imagine what the M motor and trans would cost?!

Here is a file picture of the new Remington sponsored current generation CTSV that Andy Pilgrim will be driving in the upcoming SCCA World Challenge Series.

Cadillac's official corporate position is that..... "they have exited Manufacturers representation to concentrate on their core business."

GM's only official manufacturers representation has and will always continue to be the current C6R program overseen by both Katech and Pratt & Miller.
