New here, and first i want to salute you all.
Was folowing threads here for a while and know this is the place.
(Sorry for my English i am from Holland)

I have a 03 CTS (since a month, great car) with Bose radio and NAV (DVD) and having a problem i never saw discussed here. i will try to precisely describe.

My radio/nav work fine but when i turn the car off and lock the doors for more then three or four times, when i start the car again the radio/nav comes up everything is there but no sound (mute). there is signal all my presets and settings are ok except no sound. I have to turn the ignition off open the door and lock for approx. three/four minutes and unlock and the radio is there again with sound. then it is working fine for again 3 or 4 starts and the problem is there again. Exactly the same everytime.

Now for the Navi (DVD based) also works fine sometimes but often will not calculate, you put the adress in hit calculate nothing happens. it shows the map and all else but no guidance. i think the problem is related but haven't a clou what this is.

I have no warranty so am on my own, but even if i had there are very few Caddy dealers around and they have zero knowhow. i hope you guys can help.

Try to unplug and replug your battery under the hood.

Thanks for the reply.

Already tried that, no effect, what i haven't tried is to reset the radio. Do you guys think this could work. I hesitate to do this wondering if i would screw things up.

Unfortunately the only way to really check the Navigation problem for problems is with a Tech II scantool. There should be some codes stored for the problem. Other than that, it sounds like a problem with the navigation unit itself, and there's no way to really see what's wrong with it without communicating with it with a school tool.

I would take it out and check the fuse in the back of the unit. Also remove the wiring harness and replug them, making sure they are tight.

Its not a solution, but if you are stumped, its worth a try.

Thank you all, i will take it to a dealer in two weeks (service) and have them check the codes and check the complete wiring harnass. There maybe something because i called the guy who sold me the car and he told me they removed an old carkit (no bluetooth), the day i picked up the car and resoldered some wire. under the driversseat.

I will let you know.
