: Favorite supercar ever?

I'm talking about the RWD, mid/rear engine, supercars capable of speeds in excess of 180+ mph. Usually powered by V12's, but V-10s and forced induction V8's have been used too. The pinnacle of their brands...

Here's the list, courtesy of Supercars.net.

For me, it's the Vector W8. The design, the rarity, and the performance. Plus, how many have even heard of the company or seen the car?? 22 were ever made, and it looks like Terminator's wet dream.

Although, the W12 Nardo, Zonda, Countach, Veyron and Koenigsegg come close too.

Lamborghini Countach all the way. It's classic, its name means (roughly) "Holy Shit!", nobody can look at it and not know what it is, it goes like a jackrabbit; what more is there to say? Oh, and it's one of the few cars that can look as mean as it is in all-white.

BTW the R8 is a pretty and fast car, but it's no supercar, it's just an absolutely gorgeous sports coupe with a higher than average, but not out of line pricetag. The Ford GT is more of a supercar than the R8 could hope to be.

Back in the late 90's a car mag did a top speed shootout article between supercars, GT prototypes, and a car from Richard Childress Racing. It was conducted at Volkswagons 12-14 mile track in Germany. The outright winner was Dale Earnhardts Chevrolet Monte Carlo which was a super speedway car with an open motor(No restrictor plate). The top speed was 232MPH and was faster than the F1 cars of the time. Second place was a 962 Porsche which had been a Le Mans winner. It lost by a wide margin and they had no excuses. I'll take the Monte Carlo and blow your doors off.

the saleed S7TT ... a close second goes to the Koenigsegg CCR-X (if they added a wing to it to make it drivable....for reference check jeremy clarkson's review on Top Gear)

The McLaren F1. Love the center drive position and the fact you can scare the shit out of 2 friends at a time.

Porsche 959.

I think the Countach is still the most exotic of the bunch. Not the fastest, not the most comfortable but still the most exotic. Didn't like the later ones with the gawdy ground effects and oversized bumpers but I loved the early 80's-mid 80's models.

Favorite supercar: Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Yeah, it's not your typical "supercar", but 415bhp, an 8400RPM redline, and 193mph out of an flat 6 is pretty damn impressive. Porsche has always been, and always be my favorite manufacturer. I want one of these in my garage later down the line.

I thought the 911 had a flat HO6.
