ok i have a 97 sts and have been trying to diagnose a morning hard start. it take 3-4 key turns 30 seconds each turn to finally get it started. once it starts it will start for the rest of the day 1st turn. i have cleaned the tb, replaced the fuel filter, performed a fuel pressure check which is 30 psi at key turn to on, and 40 psi when running.( i already know that these readings are low, i just want to exhaust all starting possibilities before replacing the dreaded fuel pump) I just had this pcm 1106 pop up with a history label to it? what exactly does this code mean and could this be my hard start problem. what exactly can i check to see if there is a problem with the map sensor? where is the map sensor, can i test it somehow?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, did you check your FPR? (Fuel pressure regulator) also you might check your injectors. One or more may be leaking, which would cause a hard start. I have 2 that are leaking and giving me a hard start in the mornings. I still have warranty left in my car that will cover that.

Go to the FSM and look for injector replacement. It involves removing any obstacles in the way of the 8 injectors and fuel rail, then lifting the entire assembly out of the cylinder heads in order to check leaks with a quick "key on" maneuver by an assistant.
Careful....you'll be working with atomized gasoline if one or more have leaks.
There are several threads in here and N* performance about fuel rails and injectors.
