MikeOk, for the wording part; ready?; 19xx Cadillac Deville, 16k original miles!. Driven by old lady to Walmart to get Depends and back and now she dont need Depends anymore cause she's dead. Great collector car in superb condition except for a few dents the old lady put on it (she was old) backing it out of the garage. I'm located at 1234 Freezeurassoff Drive (3rd igloo on the right).
Pretty good right?:cookoo: SlxAlxx 01-29-08, 10:40 PM Perfect. I'll use that next time I sell a car. I'll just change the street to Burnurassoff Drive and 3rd fiery pit. You could start of with... "For Sale".... Describe it... Take some nice pics of it cleaned up... and list it on CL and Maby ebay??? AkDeville 01-31-08, 02:12 PM My Deville is a 1974. What I was hoping for was if anyone has had luck posting on one of the various web sites and or car malls... I want to advertise but I don't want to do it on a site that no one checks out.. tenmark 01-31-08, 02:31 PM I recommend overlapping multiple format listings on craigs, ebay, the autotrader, here on this site, etc. Hotlinking them is good. Photobucket is a good site to host any pictures.
eBay: "buy it now" feature is a good idea (with a reserve a few hundred dollars less). Bidders must have a verified paypal account, better than zero feedback, no negatives, etc. are good bidder qualifiers.
Excellent well-written listing is important. My_favorite_Brougham 01-31-08, 02:32 PM Craigslist.org (http://craigslist.org). That is where you need to post it. And make sure you extra large and/or close-up shots. Post them on Photobucket.com (http://photobucket.com) and hotlink them into your description. Make sure they fill the average size computer screen, as those little 2in slots they give you are worthless. Besides, most everyone is on broadband these days, so don't worry about having alot of pictures. If someone is interested enough in the car to give what it's worth, then they will be willing to wait.
Also post it in several Craigslist areas. The site is broken down into regions like Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, etc. (for Texas), plus everything else. Well since your car is a desireable car and a collectable car, it would benefit you to post in multiple regions. If it were an '02 Ford Taurus, I would understand only one region, since nobody is gonna drive 100 miles for a car they can get anywhere else. But folks WILL be willing to drive to get your car. I drove 800 miles to get mine in Nebraska!
Remember, all this is free. Craigslist is free and you can post in as many visible areas as you like. Photobucket is also free and has fairly large size capabilities. If you do post ALOT of ads, you may want to have more than one Photobucket account with the same pictures, to avoid bandwidth overloads. (which is a car hunter's pet peeve, seeing "sorry this image will not be displayed until tomorrow")
Another suggestion, people like big pictures because they like to see the details of a car to judge it's history and how well kept it has been. So I suggest you spend a couple hours with a toothbrush and a vacuum cleaner. Get that car clean, all the dust from the vents, the crud from the door jambs. That is what makes an impression on potential buyers, and can make or break a sale. Two cars of exact quality can be for sale, one that's clean and washed, and one that has the grass from the driver's shoes on the floor. They can differ by upto $1000+ in the end. Impressions are EVERYTHING in this type of sale. So wash and clean her, and she'll sell for alot higher. This is because not only does it make the car look better, but it is demonstrative of the care the previous owners had for the car. Clean cars (especially under the hood) convey a sense of well-kept-ness, which lead to larger spending patterns on the buyer's end.
And when you've finally gotten her looking good and posted, let us know here, because we LOVE to see rwd Cads and may even consider buying it!
Cheers!
Greg AkDeville 01-31-08, 04:20 PM Thanks for you help and suggestions. I'll detail her and get some more photos. Here's a couple just to see what I'm dealing with... by the way, I never drive it in winter, but I did here to take pics. She's stored away right now... I uploaded the photos...? I was not able to insert the pictures as I don't know how to do it... My_favorite_Brougham 01-31-08, 05:15 PM I uploaded the photos...? Just put the image's address in your post, then IMG tags around the address to make the picture show up. Example: you have a picture at http://www.somewebsite.com/somepicture.jpg
Then put directly in front of the address with no space, and directly at the end with no space.
So before you post the message, it will look like:
http://www.somewebsite.com/somepicture.jpg
In the end it will appear like this, as a picture in your message. Just press enter between each one, so they list downward.

As for the attachments feature on this website, you have to be in the "advanced" mode to add them to a post. Then underneath the writing area, you'll see something that says "Manage Attachments." Click that button, and add a picture. It will show up like this one below with the "Attached Thumbnails" frame. Just click to enlarge!
Good luck with the sale!
